Question 2004 Sv650 S +++

Currently I have a 04 SV 650 S with Penske and in the front springs and gold valves. I do occasional track days and ride near the front of the Intermediate group.

I love my bike, but recently tried out a few new bikes: 05 CBR 600 RR and 05 Suzuki GSXR 750. The tightness and feel of the brakes and suspension leave me wanting the bike, but I really like riding twins.

That said, the dive of my forks and lack of breaking ability on my SV seems like it's so bad after getting on those bikes.

Will a GSXR Front end (Complete) give me the breaking and feel that I am desiring after riding these two bikes?

What year forks are best?

Take a look at svrider.com if you need sv suspension info on the quick.

I ran my 03 SV at the track with emulators in front and Ohlins shock in back...very good. Then replaced the front with 05 GSXR front end (forks, triples, radial brakes and wheel). A noticeable improvement!
SVrider.com has numerous pages of info.

i had a 2nd gen sv with gxxxxxr front end. it was nice, much better than the reworked stocker. how ever some of that planted feeling you felt was do to the frame and design of the gsxr, not all of it but some. with the gsxr front and brakes you'll have a noticable difference. hope i made your choice harder...

+1 on Gixxer front end and on SVRIDER's info, with one qualifier. There is ALOT of different info on different front ends being grafted onto different SV's. I put a RaceTeched '04'05 600/750 (all the same) front end on my '99 track bike. Big, big difference! One of the tracks I go to, Eagles Canyon Raceway in Texas, is hard on the brakes. Cooked stock SV brakes a couple of times there , which led to the Gixxer decision.

It is important to measure the geometry of the old suspension before you put on the new, so you will KNOW how your geometry changed. In my case the new forks dropped the front end 25 mm, which is HUGE. I usually move in 5mm adjustments. But it's all good, the bike turns VERY well and is awesome in hard braking on the bumps, just soaks it all up.

I have a reworked 04 GSXR 750 front end and its markedly better than the reworked stocker. This front end is so much stiffer and gives so much better feedback its unbelievable.
