Default Ok, who's ridden an SV1000 on a race track?

Opinions and what have you been on before?

Thanks!

I love taking my SV1000 on the track now. I'm a fairly new track rider.....gone to about 8 track days. I have the naked version. Stock, I scraped pegs, the kickstand and the exhaust (scary) during my first few times at the track. Some people advised that better body positioning would avoid scraping hard parts. I agree that better body positioning would help, but not entirely. So I modified the kickstand and put on the Ti-force full exhaust system. Now I'm no longer worried about scraping hard parts while I work on becoming a better track rider.

Because of the powerband of the bike, you end up shifting far less than some other bikes. I'm not sure if this is good or bad as far as learning is concerned.

Try adding a little preload, and for godssake ditch your kickstand.

Ok, I'm four race wins into the SV1000 now. Not a bad machine, and we've done no cartridge mods to the forks other than oil...and Hyperpro fork springs.

What bikes are you racing against?

Depends upon the class.

XBRR's, Ducati' 999's, 998's, and down in Supertwins.

I've been really close to winning some Heavyweight Superbike races...that's against GSXR750's, R6's, etc.

My lap times at the Suzuki Cup Final on Sunday would have put me thirteenth to fourteenth in the GSXR750 and GSXR1000 cup races.

It doesn't have the power, ram air, or the light weight of the GSXR's, but it's still been fun. I will probably add another bike for 2008 since I've moved my R6 down the road.

Hey, thanks! Yeah, it would probably be a lot of fun. If I had those kinds of funds and if there was some contingency, I could do it. I'm not a person of a lot of means. But I do the best with what I can put together.
