Default rc51 for sv650

i am looking to unload my 2002 rc51 for and early sv650. the one with the cast type frame not the new style frame. I think it was 2002 and under. The rc has many mods so probably the sv plus cash. Pm me if you are interested or need details. I live in maine

why not one of the newer versions?

Just curious... (I don't own an SV anymore)

And you are correct, in 2003 they started the new model.

i think the new ones "the frame" look crappy and just like every other sport bike. I like the old frame because it has kind of an itailian look to it. i can go faster on my buddies honda hawk than i can on the rc51. dont know why but i can eat a tl in the twisties with it..so i guess the sv is pretty comparable to the hawk

FWI the newer ones are FI and the old are carbed. The new ones make more HP and the seat is better.

I have an 02 SVS I'm thinking of unloading, but it needs a bit of work though.

Some '03's had engine failure problems. I don't know about other years, but I know of several that failed & it seems I have heard it was due to a spacing issue with the cranks (dunno). I only heard about failures in '03's & this was in race bikes (stock engines, though). May not be an issue for street use.
A friend that has an '02 & '03 (no engine problems for him) tells me that his '03 is stronger. Maybe the engine in the '02 in more 'tired', I dunno.
