Husky SM 610 Oilchange HELP!!!

I just did my first oilchange today and all went well EXCEPT that the mesh filter on the lower LEFT side of the machine did ONLY go in the opposite way of what's shown in the owners manual. I have now checked twice!

Anyone else had this problem? Is it I that have my thumb in the middle of my hand or is the drawing in the manual incorrect? See attached picture.

Also, how bad should I feel about not having changed the oil until now ...with 500+ miles on it? (seems everyone here's changed first time at 200+miles)

PS. ordered some stuff from Motostrano but those guys seems to have other things than customer service on their minds...

You are correct that image looks wrong. This image was taking out of the service manual. Free file hosting by Savefile.com

I have the service manual PDF here provided somewhere on this site I think as a download...but couldn't find that image.

Of course once I had seen that off-looking image in the owners manual I heard all kids of sounds when I started it up - probably was nothing then

I'll have another look (and listen) today.
