Default QuickShot AP cover on a Husky

Anyone done this mod to their SM610? I've got the jetting spot on, plus a Leovince but since I've got a Quickshot cover not being used I thought I'd stick it on the Husky and see what happens.

I had to rejet after putting it on. I had mine pretty spot on, put on the QS, and had to monkey with it again for a while. Ultimatly needing to go down on my main jet. Off idle response is insane though.

So what's your elevation and what main did you end up with?

Did you really have to remove the carb to install the QS? I just got mine in the mail today and after reading the instructions I am disappointed it says I need to remove the carb. Is there a way to install it with it on the bike?

Also,, please elaborate on the re-jetting? I guess it makes sense the main would go done a size, right now I am running a 185 MAIN (JD KIT gave a 170) so I might be OK after installing the QS.

Did you have to change the A-pump gap after installing the QS, or did you follow the JD Jet Kit recommendation?

I don't know about all your jet requirement questions but I do know that it's not nessesary to remove a Kehein FCR carb to install a AC pump cover. Just loosen the fore and aft mounts and spin the carb to access the underside.

Default Help a retard!!!!

I finally decided to get the jd kit and QS for my 610. I just got done installing both and notice a wicked hesitation or bog when wacking the throttle off idle/low speed too and pulls nice and hard through out the rest of the rev range. Let me know what you think, I need some serous help.

Heres my initial setup:

175 main
42 pilot
Leak jet
JD red needle 5th position
QS accel cover
1.5 turns on air screw

I live almost at see level, am still running the stock exhaust with emission stuff removed. I plugged the vaccum fitting on the side of the head. I didn't mess around with the AC pump adjuster screw I took off the plastic cover and saw it didn't have a cap. So i left it alone.

I'm thinking of going back to the stock needle in the 4th position but I was hoping for someone elses insight first. I still need to pick up the ridium plug and i plugger the tps back in after i finished.

I've put the same Quickshot on both my SM610 and my YZ426, couldn't get good results on either bike so I took it off. It's barely used and I'll take $50 for it if anyone else want's to try their luck with it. The way I see it (especially on my 426) is that the bottom end bog is a too rich scenario anyway, and the extra reserve in the Quickshot only makes the problem worse. You could put it on and keep jetting til you get a working solution but as I've heard it said, "that's like buying pants too big and then using suspenders to hold them up."

Goose you were definitely correct about the bog being due to a rich condition. As I leaned the bike out with the air scew the bog almost completely disapeared. I also went back to the stock needle and the bike runs like a champ. Thanx for the advice. Final settings with stock exhaust and smog stuff removed:

175 main
42 pilot
Leak Jet installed
4th clip position on stock needle
2.25 turns on air screw
Quickshot AP cover

The bike is better off the line, Great Midrange and Top End. Will fool around with jetting more after I purchase a pipe.

There is no air screw on the stock FCR carb. There is a fuel screw however. Turning it out makes the mixture richer.

There is an Air Screw look on page 94 of the 2006 husqvarna SM610 Workshop manual. I believe I downloaded the .pdf file from this site.

That screw is incorrectly listed in the bootleg "Unofficial English Translation" of the manual. It is in fact a "pilot screw" which controls the flow of fuel. If it were an air screw, it would be located towards the back of the carb, where the air enters and not on the front underside of the carb adjacent to the float bowl.
