Default sm610 clutch cable routing

Hi guys,

My clutch cable broke on the 06 sm610. I had it all torn apart and I've forgotten the routing of the cable. Does it go between the frame and the radiator? Anyone have a pic? Also, I remember it was not through the tripple tree clamp but this time I'm routing it through there.

Looks like broken clutch cables are common... :-(

Thanks for you help.

I think the OEM routing of the cable might be part of that issue.

Got almost 7K on the orignal cable right now, the last 1k seems to be stretching the adjustment is just about all the way out, better get one comming. The routing does seem curious but doesn't look like there are many options.

Up-Date clutch cable let go this morning bummer I could tell it wasn't going to last much longer, seems like they should last a bit longer than that Calling Moore & Sons tommorrow for cable, front pads, oil filter, oil filler cap, little TLC for the SM610..

Where abouts did everyone's cable break at? Lever end? Engine end? How far from the end?

If they all seem to be snapping in a common area, then there's definitely something awry with the cable, stress point, routing, bend or whatnot.

Seems to me there ought to be a Magura hydraulic setup like the SM510 comes with from the factory. Definitely has a better feel.

Going on the fact that I went through 3 master cylinders and one was rebuilt in 2 years, I think the cable is better I wouldn't want hydrolic again and definately not on my 610

You can minimize cable wear by doing two things. First lube the barrel end of the cable where it fits into the lever with some lithium grease. Second, ensure that the outer cable sheath squarly fits into the clutch lever perch/cable adjuster. Because of the way the cable is routed, you might need to make a standoff using a zip tie and a short piece of fuel line hose. I installed an ARC clutch lever/perch with a quick adjust. The ARC unit fit the stock cable much better than the cheapo stock assembly. Both of these changes will help your clutch cable last longer because friction is reduced.

I couldn't find one listed for Husqvarna. I know they're pretty much universal, but they are listed for different brands. Does yours include the switch? If not, isn't this a problem?
