Deposit on 625SMC, should I have waited for 690?

I just put a deposit on a 2006 KTM 625SMC, I get buyers remorse for everything so I just have to ask. Should I have waited for the new the 690? I have to buy the SMC sight unseen because it's not in the city I live, the dealer is bringing it in. I rode the Husky 610 today, I really liked it, but after seeing MV Agusta stamped all over it I was a bit turned off....long story.

Anyways, so please tell me more about the 625SMC I just purchased, did I do the right thing?

Yup!

KTM is notorious for NOT bringing bikes to the US the year they're released. It's very likely we won't see a 690 here for another year. If you got your hands on an '06 625, you are gonna be happy!!

Thanks! Good to know.. Any indepth reviews on the 625 you know of? I got it for a fair bit under MSRP, but I guess the demand for them is quite high still so I couldn't push it. The Husky 610 would have been a bit cheaper.

Oh.. and he said the "new" street KTMs would arrive in January, the only small 'tard KTM has coming to the US apparently is the 690. I think the exhaust looks cool but I don't like the front fender.

I made up my own mind, I like the 625 better simply because the 690 looks too much like a full motorcycle than a motard. And with the exhaust routed underneath the frame you won't even be able to put it up on a frame stand. It'll definitely need an aftermarket front fender too. The 625 still has that "dirt bike on the street" look.

Good picture showing the difference between the 640 and 690. (I think the 625 looks identical to the 640.)
