Default Husky sm610

New to the forum and looking to get my first supermoto. I was looking at the drz400sm but think I may be happier with the Husky.

My questiton is: Is 6799 a good price for a 2006 demo with about 500km on it? I'm in Jacksonville and unfortunately we don't have any husky dealers. The dealer is in Atlanta so I will either have to travel to get it or have it shipped.

Any input is appreciated.

Thanks,
D

I had 2 Husky's and never ever again, go KTM and you have something. The Husky 610 is heavy as a brick and has no power, the 450 is light but blows up all the time. You want trouble free performance -- KTM is the way to go.

Relative to what exactly?

KTM 625 SMC: 322 lbs
Husky SM-610: 313 lbs

Now the 660 SMC is a whole 9 lbs lighter, if you remove the passenger footpegs on the SM-610 you will almost be there.

660 SMC
Performance (homologated) 21 kW @ 6250 rpm Max. torque 42.5 Nm @ 3250 rpmThat's 28 horsepower

The SM-610 is rated at 53hp at 7K.

Not knocking KTM - I own one and they are great bikes.

That's funny, KTM's are trouble free............Well I guess I had 5 bad KTM's over the years then. They all had issues except for the 200E/XC I had. My 640 was a bitch to start when hot, and it was jetted correctly. My 300's would boil like volcano's in the tight woods. My 125 would handgrenade if pushed too hard whereas my Husky 125 ran like a clock and never gave me a problem. I got 2 full seasons of hard racing off the stock top end. KTM's are no better or worse than Huskies. They suffer from the same types of issues. The 610 is lighter and as powerful as the 625, come on, that's a bit much isn't it?

I think alot of people thought the 610 would be as explosive as the 510/450's and were somewhat disapointed, but it is a SOHC motor and is not intended to be as "race ready" as the 450/510's. I like mine, it is what I expected it to be, better than my LC4 was, that's for sure.

Don't drink the koolaid..............

Nice troll! The 625SMC certainly feels bigger/heavier to ride than the husky, though not by a huge margin. The KTM has the wood on the husky in the motard department out of the box, largely due to the highly restrictive stock exhaust that the husky has that the KTM doesn't suffer as badly from. Uncork both of them and you're about the same engine wise

I owned two KTM625's and LOVED them. I like them better than the Husky but that's subjective; not based on any one fact in particular. Get whichever one you like, but $ for $, I'd skip the DRZ. It weighs as much as the portly Europeans, just without all that pesky torque... Atlanta is not that far. Take the long way home and stop at Jennings for a track day on the way home The entire adventure will be well worth it, I promise.
