Default May 7 trackday

Less than 2 weeks away for 1st trackday at Cokato. Remember real catch cans(see dave at this website) and 96 db pipes. We will run track both ways so it should be fun. Any questions please let me know. See you then!

How are the db of the pipe measured and at what distance. I will be real pissed if I go all the way there, and my pipe is at 97db and you will not let me run. how can I get it checked out prior to traveling all the way there?

Good answer smart ass.

Gee, I never thought of that. The stock can didn't come with the bike. What now?

I might have access to a db meter, but I need to know how far back they will be holding the meter, and how many rpms does the bike have to be reving to?

Keep the good ideas coming.

What kind of bike? what kind of pipe? Its checked at 20" 45 degree angle. I'll
work with you. Try repacking the pipe. Most need to be done every 10 hours.

It is a YZ450 with a Jardine TI-4 I would assume it is a race core silencer. It is just how the bike came to me. I will repack and hope for the best. The local cart track owner may have a db meter I can try to see if I am even in the ball park.

Thanks for the info.

Big Zero, Would really like to see you make it up! I wish I had a pipe to help you out. With my dealing with those pipes they come up a little loud. Hope we can figure something out.

I'm in the same sort of situation, I don't know if my new bike will pass the decibel test or not. Is there anywhere in the Twin Cities I can go to have it tested BEFORE driving out to Cokato?

For what it's worth, the bike was legal for the AMA Supermoto Series in 2005, but I don't know if they had sound tests or, if they did, what their cutoff was.

I made a phone call to a guy in hope of setting something up, and got no reply. He had a story about testing and the db levels in the last Minnesota offroad magazine. He said to contact any DNR Trails and Waterways office to get tested or go to an event. No phone # ? Gerg as for your ex HMC bike, the level for AMA was 102db I believe. The boss has one also,(450) and he tested to loud. We put on a new Q2 did some more head work and got 2 more hp. My buddy just put a Q2 and power bomb header, he also got 2 more hp on his 250 yamaha.
I know this is a pain in the ass, but it's the future of any off road riding. With alot Minnesota events testing for sound, I don't know where you can ride without being, or having a quiet pipe. The db level was one of the biggest things we had to overcome when we got the go ahead with this track. Most bikes passed last year with a freash repack. We test the same, but have a different meter. So by all means, just because you pass with us does not mean you will pass some where else.
