Default time for new rubber

it's time to swap for a new set of stickies and I was wondering what you guys would recommend as a replacement

I'm probably going to get the BT014s only because it's what everyone I've asked keeps telling me to get.. unless you guys can change my mind of course!

thanks ahead of time

oh, it's for a '97 gixxer600 btw

Hows the weather most times of the year when you ride? I've ridden on the Bridgestones and have been happy with them, however I live in a warmer climate and decided to try out the Pilot Powers. Getting them mounted this friday so no feedback as of yet, but it has been given high regard by my close friends.

Pilot Powers seem to be all the rage. Rider's who swore by the Diablo's are running the Michelin's now. I still have some life left on my Pilot Sports.

Been a long time bridgestone user myself. Mostly 12ss. (rc51) Grip wet or dry was excellent and they never did anything wierd even when I was being ham fisted. I am trying pilot race this weekend on my race bike so don't know if that type of feedback would be useful.

I'm not gonna tell you what to get as there are tons of great tires out there, but forget the BT-014's, they suck ass & have some really strange belting & sidewall construction that makes them handle sluggish. I originally had them on my RR & I have ridden with them on a ZX-10R & a Superchicken too. They pretty much produce the same feeling on all of those bikes. Grip sucks too...

Track or street mostly? Reason I ask, about any tire out there these days will do you well.

If street, I would go with something high mileage for cost reasons.

I slapped some BT-014s on my Kawi. Must say, they're definitely the best street tires I've ever tried.

Goint to get a set for my SV when the Diablos wear out. They're ok but not as good as the Stones.

I have tried the Pilot Sports, they felt great but are not any better than the Stones, and they cost more.

I got my knee down in pretty much every corner from
one end of The Gap to the other on Ducs MuZ.
On AVON DISTANZAS! I would have been dragging pegs but my feet

are too wide.

my bike won't be seeing the track (there's no track anywhere close enough for me to consider with my budget) but it will be ridden hard, I really want a solid feeling tire so I know what it's doing underneath me with a really progressive breakaway rather than something that works perfect until it spits me off without warning.. I'm still not terribly confident at higher lean angles so something with tons of good feedback will do me good

DJ you may want to get a tire that warms up quickly, seeing that you live in Ottawa

^ definitely, almost forgot to mention, we get hot summers, but quite a few cool/almost cold mornings

usually tires that warm up fast are eaten away too quickly aren't they?
god I hate being a tire n00b

Tires are a matter of personal preference & there are plenty of brands out there that give lots of combinations of grip, longevity, feedback, compliancy, neutral steering or quick steering what have ya... It's all a matter of what particular combination of those traits gives you as the rider the most confidence.

As I already stated I ain't gonna tell people what works, but I will give some feedback on what doesn't even just for street tires used under ahem "spirited riding conditions" MEZ3's suck, BT-014's suck, BT56's (not the SS version) suck, Michelin Hi-Sports (yes they still make them & use them on OEM fitments) will get you killed & I'm not overly fond of anything with the words AVON or Conti anything on them.

Your results might vary
