The local riders around here make me sick, total embarassment to anyone who rides from this area. I hate to be so cruel but eveytime one of these morons kills himself he is made out to be some good kid (who happens to be breaking the law on local roads ) but he is imortalized by the local media. They had some huge skit on the local news channel every night since the accident. Showed the funeral with all the bikes following the hearst. All of the things were chromed, stretched, furred you name it, looked like a circus coming to town.
The kid was a fault totally, he smashed into the side of a ford LTD at about 100 mph doing a wheelie at night on a 4 lane thorough fare in town. The GSXR1000 was smashed into a ball of aluminum & he was thrown over a 100 ft. down the road, killed him instantly! The impact knocked the rear wheel off the LTD along with smashing the brake on the axle. The body of the car had a huge U shaped imprint in it. Spun the car in a 180. Terrible scene to come up on if you were a EMT.
The guy was 25 years old.
Poor lady in the car was badly shaken. She claimed she saw nothing until the impact, no headlight, of course not it was pointing toward the sky.
Last night they showed video of these morons performing their stunts on the local roadways. Some idiot was crying because they have no track to perform their stunts locally. Lying sack of shit! they would not go to it if they had it no audience like 5 o'clock traffic up I-55 as a audience.
I have no respect for any of them & anytime I cross paths locally with the renegades I give them the finger or a tailight Fug'em! you must earn respect and the crap they are doing is not going to get it.

Stunting is totally spectator-based. That "sport" is NOTHING without people to watch them. I saw a bunch of these cretins appear at a track day about a year ago. They started doing all their tricks in the parking lot, no one cared to even glance their way, so they left after about 10 minutes. Such dorks, even the track announcer made jokes about them the rest of the day....
Re: Local stunter wiped out New years eve (Tripod-R)
I was on the freeway last month. I am in the right lane doing a good 70 mph in my truck. I look in my rear view mirror and see headlights weaving through the moderate traffic that caught my attention. In front of me the traffic was clear and I guess these guys were target fixated on this envelope of clear road. As the first rider moved over into the left lane to pass me on his R1 up comes the front wheel and he goes right by me doing a stand-up wheelie, his buddies were a hundred yards back and had already moved over into the left lane and were on the gas front wheels up not 3 feet apart from each other. I was so pissed off I just pulled on the wheel and moved over into the left lane. Well their stunt show came to a sudden and dramatic end as they both chopped the throttle and hit their rear brakes . The guy on the right got into a pretty evil looking tank slapper and the guy on the left went evasive and pulled around me going on to the grass of the center median.
Well nobody crashed however they both came close. the guy on the median pulled back on the road behind me then immediately shot up on my left side flipping me off and making all types of wild gestures I in turn made a quick sawing motion on the steering wheel and he realized he was in a no win position and accelerated up in front of me. His buddy passed me on the right and ran up to catch the R1 that was now about 1/2 a mile in front of us. The median dude tried to brake check me, kinda stupid as I actually hit the throttle and totally freaked him out as My truck came within about 3 feet of him. He then flipped me off again and accelerated up to catch his two buddies.
I returned to the left lane and continued up the highway at my 70 mph, about 30 seconds later the SUV behind me passed me and the driver gave me a thumbs up and continued to pass me. I never did see the starboyz again.
Re: Local stunter wiped out New years eve (sp2pilot)
Robert, phuck those assholes. It seems strange that guys like us on this board, who genuinely love motorcycles, can get so bent when they see this kind of crap. I too see blood red when I see these total losers on the road, not view them as a fellow biker, but someone I view with the same worth as road kill.

Even if they DID go they would still be on the road. There is a group here in town that calls themselves legit because they orgainze shows at the local dragstrip here in STL. But you can still find them at night out on the hiways pulling shit. Hell their DVDs they sell are basically all interstate stuff...phucktards. Never met one of them in person, but it will be an interesting "conversation" if I do.
How about everyone bands together to term this activity as "Motorcycle Ballet", instead of stunting.
Insist that in Europe where this was popular years ago it was awarded the name to avoid confusion with the then popular North Am stunts that involved rocket bikes being shot over canyons.
No check this out... In Sept I pull out of the local Honda shop in Olive Branch MS on my 1000RR & 5 monkeys on a newer model GSXR's & one 929 all come flying by me on 1 wheel. Well a few miles down the road they are nowhere to be seen & I am being roadblocked by the local po-dunk police officer & have to pull over & get detained for 20 minutes while we wait for another officer to show up & ID me & of course check my license, insurancem VIN#'s & prostate. Ultimately they decide they I could not have been riding all 5 bikes at once so they let me go, but it still pisses me off to be put in that position
Re: Local stunter wiped out New years eve (Just Riding Along)
I hate the stigma of the imature machismo stunter - I don't want to pay high insurance and be looked down on because I ride a bike that seems to every one represents the stunter character. (Luckily the RC dosn't) Keep the wheel on the ground on the frwy please you idiots. There is a thin line between brave and moronic. It is easily crossed turing a young testasterone boil.
They buy the bikes, destroy them learning to stunt, get too many tickets and can't get insurance, then sell them. We are left holding higher premiums, bad public image, and pissed off cops......thanks guys. And it seems like they do this in the timespan of about 1 year.

does someone want to tell Mike that a "Prostate check" is not standard procedure for a traffic stop............or should we just let it go?
Re: Local stunter wiped out New years eve (svmango)
If you wheelie on a deserted road and there's no one there to see it, was it really a wheelie?
I say for those capable of and inclined to a wheelie now and then, if you're responsible about it and assure that the only person / property you're risking is your own, I say go for it. (Please don't file a insurance claim when you finally burn in, OK?) Kidding aside, I see no problem with a little fun as long as you're not going to take anyone out when you go.
The problem is the attention starved punks that have to pull this crap do so in close proximity to others, and risk grave damage to innocent people and property.
I'm conflicted, I know. But while I'm sure the actions described by Sp2Pilot are not the way to go (and could easily lead to a situation that he would later regret), I can't help but to think that getting the little freaks to stain their underpants is the only way they might think twice about their actions.
Re: Local stunter wiped out New years eve (JamesP)
True Story:
I was at a dealership one time with a buddy, and the sales guy was telling us about a 'stunter' that came in, and bought a brand new gixxer 750 from him. Upon purchase, said stunter took it out in the parking lot, and began to pound in the gas tank.
When the guys from the dealer came out to ask what he was doing, he said "cavin' in the tank, so I can sit on it and do wheelies".
They promptly told him to get off their property. Then informed him that he could have gotten a used tank on Ebay really cheap, and sold the new one if he wanted.
Where do you think he got expendable funds for the new bike? From you, me and all the other bikers that pay premiums!
