Default a side note

Leaving Blowing Rock NC yesterday I find myself following a bunch of tourists down the mountain on 321. There is a section of road where the one lane going down becomes two.... Thats right, a passing lane!
I found myself in some sort of gung-ho NASCAR simulator with three SUV's and a Pick-up truck as I went around everyone, and everyone tried to go around everyone else.
The last SUV to be passed was about to consume the remaining run off of the double lane section when I popped up on the drivers side quarter panel leaned WAY over in a right hander doing just over 60 in a 30 zone as he was trying to make his SUV do 55 or so in the same space. The driver was clearly surprised as I had been hidden from him by all the other traffic I had just passed, his SUV did a little wiggle to cue me on this. Just for spite - I glanced over my shoulder and looked at him while still cranked over.
He was Japanese, and his wife was startled and had a death grip on the "Oh - Shit handle"
Then I stood it back up and went on about my way.

I then realized that I was racing the tourists, I went home after that.

I don't get why some people get so frightened. I can't say I really care though.
I've been cut off enough times that it just became a natural reaction to gas it.

I flew by some broad in a corner with tons of room to spare. My buddy who was back a ways, said she got scared, and pulled off the road. I just laughed

Hey Duc, try 181 out of Morganton up the mountain, then take the parkway to Blowing Rock, have a nice breakfast or brunch at The Speckled Trout. Then head down the mountain on 321. I know the passing zone you speak of, I know it well !
I bet you will like 181 so much you will make a couple of passes up and down. From the Space gas satiation to the tractor store, limited access, nice sweepers, and some,,,uh,,,,knee down stuff
BTW, sounds like you had a typical ride in tourist hell, early Sunday AMs were great in that area, when "THEY" are out, time to chill out. Pass a couple only to find many more.

Jeez,,,I miss riding those mountains !!!

Hey man

I've been on 181 (freshly paved last summer it frickin' RIPS) then took the BRP to 221 (too many slow moving tree watchers and bicycle riders on the BRP) to Blowing Rock. You are VERY correct about that Loop.
It is an awesome way to spend a couple of hours

Hmmm Sounds like some of our roads up here in Colorado. You never know when some idiot will park in the middle of a blind turn to get out and take pictures of Aspen trees :InsertshakingheadIconhere
