Wow. That was some scary stuff.

I was a bicycle industry guy for a bunch of years and got to see a few creative ways that people break into U-type locks. There was the Volvo jack break. The U-lock companies beefed up the shackles and then started using freon and hammers. The pen thing is really spooky because its so simple and easily concealed (unlike a Volvo jack, hammer & freon etc.).

Kryptonite is replacing all tubular style locks for free. No proof of purchase necessary, I just recieved this E-Mail

.
.

.
Now they say "all current owners". Nothing about proof of purchase or purchased within the last 2 years...

KRYPTONITE OFFERS FREE PRODUCT EXCHANGES TO ALL CURRENT OWNERS OF KRYPTONITE TUBULAR CYLINDER LOCKS

If you currently own a Kryptonite tubular cylinder lock and are concerned about the security of this lock, Kryptonite will exchange this lock for you with a comparable non-tubular cylinder lock.

To participate in the exchange program, please send an email to kryptonite@irco.com

You will receive an auto response asking you for information including your name, address and lock type. It will also give you information on exchanging your lock. Kryptonite will pay the postage for all exchanges. Please note that this email address sends an auto response – do not send questions to this email address as it is not monitored. If you have questions, please send an email to locktalk@irco.com

We expect locks to begin shipping in mid-October.

I have 2 Kryptonite u-locks that I refuse to use now. I'll be emailing them.

Geee. Glad they're posting that video all over the world. Guys at work are waving their Bic Stic pens at me and smilling.

I'd get nervous if the guys at work started waving their bic stics at me and smiling.

So what does non-barrel type replacement mean? Do the replacements look anything like the originals? I'm using one that I can't get a bic pen in, in conjunction with a Barbed Wire set. I'd be pissed if they replace it with a lock I can't use the way I need it to work.

My buddy and I both got our replacement Disc Locks for use on the front rotor. Same size and shape as the old model, except we both received an orange and black one. Good match for the flying pumpkin CBR600 of a few years back . The new key is a flat rectangle, 28mm long, 6mm wide and 2mm thick with very unusually cut teeth. Seems to work just fine.
