" No joy rides " because it won't turn to bring it back .
No man, you're not getting the context... There are no joy rides, because there will be no joy found during the ride. You're welcome to ride it, but you'll want to punch yourself square in the prostate when you're done.

True enough, but then they arent spending hundreds of dollars for a mod that only works on the track, and makes the bike worse everywhere else.
No, they're just spending hundreds of dollars on a mod they'll never have the skill or the environment to realize the potential of. I'm talking about guys with braided brake lines, remote brake lever adjusters, 520 chains and aluminum sprockets, and aftermarket steering dampers rolling around on Power Ones with 1" wide chicken strips.

you forgot $3000 wheels and another $3000 in suspension mods.
and while I agree they are wasted money without the skills to use them, none of these things make the bike handle worse on the street.

Very true. I was leaning more towards pointless mods made for the sake of making them, rather than mods that hurt the intended use of the machine. I think we're pretty much saying the same thing, though.
Used to think that before I tried it. It's crazy hard. And it could help you with your road racing or flat track starts. But I suppose you're just awesome at all of those things and don't need to get better.
Be that as it may, the guy's stupid. How the hell does that cost $27,000? He hasn't learned the lesson yet: Customization is a monetary black hole (usually).
Hey, what's it like to ride a stretch? I can only imagine.

Nope, I'm not. I suck at launches. I still think drag racing is boring. Next supposition?
I wonder if I can maybe give a silver lining when buying bikes like this. It is obvious that the owners carer about their bikes, and I assume have the money to properly care for the bike. Better than many of the rashed and thrashed junk I see on craigslist every time I look.
Most of these drag bikes may have ghastly paint jobs or (reversible) mods, but in there somewhere is a good sportbike that a new owner can return to originality thriugh Ebay parts.
I'm actually tempted to call on the TL1000R in my previous post, but I anticipate the asking price will be ludicrous so probably not worth my time. If he was realsitic ($3500-4000) maybe we could talk.
More money changes hands in unsanctioned and illegal drag races in the USA than you could ever imagine.
We used to have them around here as well... they more or less stopped after the owner of a large car dealership crashed his car and killed himself during a drag race on a stretch of under construction highway.
And yet somehow I don't think neon lights will help you 1/4 mile performances...
