This is a race well worth watching. There was a group of 10 at the front until the very end and you had no idea who was going to win.

Gap to Biaggi for Melandri is now a manageable 14 points with a ton of races left. Rea and Checa are still well out of it comparatively but it is a wide open championship now imo. Sykes is still in with a shot as well. While I am a Biaggi fan I'd love to see the BMW or Kawasaki take it, in that order.

BTW,
Aprilia has protested Melandri because his bike was still being adjusted and worked on later than per the rules before the formation lap. Potentially a big advantage given the rapidly changing weather conditions of the race start.

Hopefully nothing comes of it. I prefer the close title battle we have now.

The crazy thing is that if Sykes pulls a Nicky Hayden and wins the championship without winning a race I will have to re-evaluate my feelings towards Nicky's win in 2006.

...maybe I should've given Nicky more credit.

Aside from the fact that Sykes has already won a race this year and Nicky won two in his championship year.

Semantics.

Sykes has won two (albeit rain shortened) races in WSBK.

I couldn't work out at the time, why the Monza race was red flagged as the conditions on track were seemingly much better than those at Silverstonerobably just the Italians sticking together to give Pirelli an excuse to have the race ended prematurely after their disgraceful product was found to be falling to pieces throughout the weekend.

Interesting info if you can catch it in the pre-race show. Neil H noted that Checa's Ducati is 20 odd mph down on the straights to the other bikes, according to the data logging. This explains a bit how hard he is having to ride.

Also commentary on Melandri riding a bit too hard but nothing on Rea. At least they did admit they were pro-Brit - understandable. I can understand it from Hodgson, since he was mainly a clean rider esp. in WSC.

Still I do wonder if/when team orders should come into play at BMW. Haslam is well out of it.

I'm pretty sure that Nicky doesn't mind what people think of how he won a championship...

Is a championship given to who scores the most points or wins?

Yea...that's what I thought

Rain is the great equalizer and the best riders will win. So Baz is the best rider on the grid. Just ask all the clowns around here, they'll tell you how important rain results are. Good race though.

Baz seems to be having a start of his World Superbike career a bit like Haga did. If anyone recalls, he set the world on fire by making passes and getting results that Scott Russell could not on the YZF750.

Baz seems like an exciting rider, I expect many eyes will be on him for the rest of the season, I hope he can keep up the momentum of good results.

He is only 19, do you think he will be WSBK next year or Moto2? Basically if he does as well for the rest of the year and doesn't get an opportunity at GP, no superbike rider will...

Why would anyone take a WSBK ride over a Moto2 ride? Who would rather race in front of this as opposed to the MotoGP circus. This was during the Silverstone race.

Weather was bad. Who would want to sit in that?
