Over the years, I've injured myself at work several times. Now that I'm approaching the big "five O" when is cold and wet I can feel every one of those injuries.
I cannot imagine how some of these modern galdiators are going to feel later in life.
I wish a fast recovery to "the Hopper'
Gaucho

I had to have the tip of my finger amputated(nail the the closest knuckel) after a rag I was holding in my had got caught in the chain and sprocket on my running Sv650 while it was on my pitbull stand warming up and checking everything before second morning practice session prior to race at Buttonwillow CCS.
It does get very cold and sensative when temp outside gets below 45 deg.

there was a film of a guy who got his whole hand run through a sprocket like that, grizzly outcome, if it's mechanical, and it's moving, don't touch it...

Maybe we should have a permanent thread stickied with this title and just add our "+1" as the season goes on. Save us all a lot of typing...

Slightly off topic, but I'd thought I'd share this.

Randy Renfrow (may he rest in peace) suffered a motorcycle road racing accident, and his thumb had to be amputated. He selected the option of having his toe amputated and attached as his new "thumb" on his injured hand.

After that, on occasion he would say "You win thumb, you lose thumb."

True story.

A few years ago, I went down and lost the end of a finger to the sprocket of death. Also broke six ribs, collarbone, shoulder blade and had a collapsed lung so the finger was the least of my worries. Later one of my buddies found my finger still in the glove stuck to the sprocket....gave it back to me in a ziplock bag...still have it......it is petrified by now so I may give it to the Smithsonian or something.
