Anyone who can run the pace in BSB on THOSE tracks is outta their fukn mind. Those tracks are meatgrinders! Sucks that all the money left that series because it used to be packed with good bikes and great talent.

Agreed. Definitely better than DMG that's for sure.
The sun has set (a LONG time ago) on hypekins parade, another rider who started to believe their own publicist............
(and no cat man, I wasn't his team mate..... )
Semper Fi!

Anyone wanna place bets at which race he gets hurt? I don't think he makes it through 4 rounds (8 races) healthy.
I'm in....I say the second race weekend....first practice session He's so washed up....there are so many better younger riders out there! Why anyone would waste thier money/bikes on him is way beyond me! And NO I don't know him, but yes I raced for many years!
I think he is still hurt? This past season I thought he had changed his off track behavior but I recently read he had not, in fact it's even worse. I don't think BSB is a step up from DMG in terms of pay and I'm not sure if Monster is going to remain his sponsor I haven't heard anything about that.

You READ about it? Please do not comment on his off track behavior unless you are his teammate. You know the rules bro!
But seriously, how the fukk did he hold onto that Monster money for so long?

What is funny if anyone remembers is that a few years ago so many people were on his jock and thought he would be MotoGP champion. Apparently I saw (or didn't see) something in Hopkins no one else did. An immature and undisciplined rider who would never be able to put together a decent season. 2007, where half the field was on crap Dunlops, made him look better than he really was. The guy has always been a midpack rider. He will be forgotten five minutes after he retires.
He finished 4th in points that year, I won't forget him. I wish him the best. I do agree however he had a great opportunity and for what ever reason lost it. We could say the same about Melandri. I bet there is an interesting story there.

BSB is a step up from DSB, maybe not for money but for sure in world wide recognition of talent. Crecent, (damn near won the championship this year) is a very good team and it will definately be a make or break year for him (no pun intended). Not a fan but I sure don't want to see him get hurt again.

John Ulrich, the man behind both Team Hammer and publication Roadracing World, seems to be content on airing his dirty laundry about rider John Hopkins on the WERA board this week. In his postings, Ulrich accuses Hopkins of keeping secret his hand’s deteriorated condition, and misrepresenting his physical fitness and readiness for the 2010 season. This issue has lead to Ulrich saying he won’t work with Hopkins ever again, despite Ulrich discovering the Anglo-American rider at a young age, and essentially jump-starting his motorcycle racing career.
I will be interested when Ulrich posts this on Roadracingworld. If this is true at some point he will gripe about it publicly. Ego will not allow him to be quiet. Although in some cases defamtion lawsuits >> ego. We shall see.
Anyway, if true a pretty damning comment on the character of Hopkins to screw over the guy that discovered him.
EDIT: read the wera board messages. If user is Ulrich of course.

It is his name, he also goes by john29 on WERA. I would believe what Ulrich says over what Hopkins has to say. I remember reading that Ulrich was extremely sad about the way Hopkins treated him.
I have never met Hopkins but my opinion of him when he started in GPs was nada I'd never heard much about him aside from his days riding for team hammer. I read his column in RRW and it seemed like a kid more into the party scene than the riding fast deal. Last season his interviews seemed like he had cleaned himself up and if he's good for John, maybe he's not so bad after all. Now all this BS comes to light and it shows his true character. Earlier I compared Him with Gobert....Gobert may have squandered opportunities but the Go show was waaaay faster than Hopkins IMO
Jack Valentine (Crescent Suzuki boss) clearly said he's looking for a rider bringing in good sponsorship money so he can run a two bikes team next year.
If Monster Energy really dropped him I don't know how much money Hopkins can put on the table. Still he's a former MotoGP player and most people in Europe never heard of his off-track antics so he may be able to rack up some sponsorship money in the Old World. Sponsors are usually more willing to bet on a big name on a downward slope than on some promising no-name on the rise.
