Absolutely flawlessly perfect.

Any reason why you picked that particular engine? Also, how direct was the subframe-frame fit and subframe-monster seat fit? much modification needed?

picked that engine because it was laying around. The rear subframe needed a little bit of adjustment, IRC. The monster seat cover just layed on top perfectly If that is what you are talking about. I'm more of the "gopher boy" on this project. The "Hey... Drive to Bristol VT (290 miles away) to get this powdercoated" person. So as for the exact fitments on stuff, i'm not 100% sure.

To make the rear swingarm fit, we had to make a new pivot for it. We pressed bearings into the frame, and put a steel rod through that, and then collars for the outside. For the subframe, a bit of bending was needed, and then collars

The bike is up and running for the most part. Needs a bit of electrical work for the dash, getting it to display everything.

oh my god man, that bike is glorious

edit: would you be able to throw on the 748 fairings and take a picture? I'm curious what a monster tail chop would look like on the 916 line

Sorry, can't do. All fairing attachment points have been removed from the frame and such. Maybe i'll entertain myself with photoshop for awhile trying to recreate that

Your bike is very, very, close to how I envisage my own 996/999 hybrid to become one day (when finally finished!). Beautiful work. I'm not sure I'll be able to spend quite so much on the paint, etc as you've done, but I love the open, naked, styling having all the mechanical bits out there.

Your bike pics are motivating me to get off my lazy arse and finish the project.....thanks!

Looks like a sweet machine, my only complaint is that the red hoses seem to distract me from the beauty of the rest of the bike. Black or braided hoses would be so much cleaner.

we choose the red hoses because we have a red clutch, red fluid reservoir caps. We were hoping they wouldn't be so bright, but they were.

man that thing is indeed glorious, maybe some silver hoses would accentuate the other red bits you've got on there. But what the hell do I know, that thing is tits.

Stellar job

Maybe different colored zip ties, gray to blend with the frame, or red?

nah, the pipe is all phucked up, center the cone(s), and redo the trip around the shock with a sweeper radius, and get rid of those sophmoric choppy sections, just sayin...

the CL of the meg should be the same angle as the bottom of the tank, as viewed from the side, and for phuk's sake, ditch the stinking prisoner tin on the ass...

and some ostrich hyde on the seat instead of that ghey suede, would almost make it perfect...

and clean the barbs off the tail, ditch everything past the pinstripe...

Default sweet

You couldn't place the exhaust straight under the tail and not off on a 45 degree angle like that?
