Larry,
That is some sweet work done by someone who knows their way around machining tools....I love it.....well except for the eye-aching paint job.

Love the rear axle.....how many hours did it take to do it? The Ducati single hub does look better than the Honda 4-bolt pattern.

Thanks kill... thats Jody's aka The Bikeman patient dry brush technique...
and the beauty is that you can not tell if its been road rashed or not...

The axle was a labor of love and consumed 30 days worth of manual
machining on the Lathe and Mill...

I know what you mean... Honda's silly 4 bolt is just as bad as their axle
within an axle that comes stock on the RC30 / RC45... it irritated me so
much that I engineered and machine my own axle extension to mimic the
$5K HRC NL5 racing axle...

I saved 1 pound 6 ounces over stock... not too shabby for 30 days of
work...

I machined a 56 mm nut out of 7075 T-6 aluminum with a corresponding
aluminum socket with 1/2 inch drive in order to have the necessary tool to
torque the wheel properly...

No more silly axle withing an axle... now I like my axle...

Since we are moving sideways, why the hate of the cush drive?

I don't hate... I remove the cush drives on customer's bikes they
are happy to trade a little bit of extra chain life for the extra feel of being
more connected to the rear wheel contact patch not to mention lower
unsprung weight... it's like once to try a non cush drive bike like the RC30 or
RC45... you'll never go back the muted feel of an flexy cush drive...

HRC don't use cush drives on their race bikes...

Thanks, now understand. Never ridden a bike without one (that I know of) ... myself.

Isn't the main purpose of the cush drive to reduce stress on the transmission in road bikes? Dirt bikes do not have them....but they are on the dirt.

The main purpose of a cush drive is chain extra life... note belted bikes do
not sport cush drives... on most road bikes the back side of the clutch
basket is spring loaded to reduce stress on the transmission...
