Considering the standing waves that acreate within the cloth and if it was linen and with a rope with no stretch,

Aw fuggit. I sound like James May on Top Gear. Cute vid and glad they used a screamer and not a droner.

I think it's eminently plausible. The bike is already moving while it's taking up the slack in the rope tension. If the cloth is a low-friction material like silk or something similar...there is very little friction to overcome the inertia of the items on the table. Any sport bike could do the same, IMO.
