careful, its not No Cal, its NorCal. And "Hella..." is a real word up there, dont mock it. And what ever you do...do not call it San Fran or cisco the stinky trust-afarian kids get very offended by it. Other than that, its an awesome town with TONS of amazing roads to play at.

Yeah it's a bit of a culture shock, but in a good way. I'm looking for a good shop in the area so if anyone has any suggestions...

I'm waiting on a batery and a new fork seal so I can pay 84 a visit.

BTW... If anyone has any forks for sale let me know..

Welcome. Yeah, it's going to be a bit of a culture shock if you're from anywhere other than Austin

Are you in the City, or the East Bay? You'll have to figure out which demographic you belong to so that you can join the right gang. Out here, it's one or the other.

Just j/k'ing

I thought "hella" was a Socal thing? Up here, we bash you guys for that! Oh, and it's "The City," "Citayyy" or anything else along those lines. I'm from the East Bay, so I don't give a shit either way.

I don't ride on the street any more, but I'm happy to help you out with trackday advice if you need it.

oh no, thats a staple of NorCal 100%.
you never hear anyone south say Hella, the second you do they know youre NorCal. I think San Jose loves taking credit for hella in fact. A lot of my buddies from SJ will argue to the death that Hella came from there and not the bay area.

My buddy has a funny Tee "NorCal hella sucks", hes from mendocino so its just a joke.

Your gonna love it. If you have a Duc take it to Nichols in Milpitas. The guys are honest and very fair on pricing. Talk to Jim. I've heard good things about dealership Munroe Motors in San Francisco. Also for a shop Desmoto is excellent too.

December, Jan, and Feb can be dicey with the weather but the rest of the year is pretty stellar. Watch for deer, potholes and a bunch of clueless cagers. Other than that, have fun. Put Skaggs Springs Road on your A-list. Highway One isn't bad either - can be plenty of slow-moving heavy projectiles to pass though. Of course, So Cal sucks (water, that is). Had to get that in there.

When I move from Mpls to Norcal I lived on Hwy 7/Four Corners/Alice's Resturant. Use to get off of work Friday and get back home Sunday night.

No doubt about the deer. I nearly 86'd one while on recon half way up 84. I will have to check out Skaggs Springs. 84 is pure sex.

you have to do the mandatory hwy 1 down through carmel and trough big sur.
You do it once and check it off the list.

Lots of cruise america campers and convertible mustang rentals, but its one to take it slow and enjoy the views.

Lemme know where yer at, the Bay Area covers a lot of geography, I can hook you up with some kikker roads, some of the previous suggestions were for good roads, unfortunately, they are PACKED with squids on Ducs running wide over the double yellow on their new toys. Do yourself a favor and log yerself onto BARF, you'll get instant updates on road and LEO status. Lemme know when yer ready to ride.

Semper Fi!

Yup, 2nd that on BARF. Very mature group of riders for the most part, and if you say you want to go on a certain pace ride, the leaders make sure you stick to it.

BTW: In my opinion, the best, and by far the safest, place to ride like a total idiot is out to Point Reyes. Wide open roads, you can see through most corners for a couple hundred yards when you get out into the countryside, and there's very little traffic. I've acted like a completely irresponsible youth pretending it's the Isle of Man in my past because for the most part, you can only hurt yourself through your own mistakes because there's nobody else around. Be warned though, if you throw yourself into a ditch at 100mph +, theres a good chance that nobody will find you...

I do all my own general maintenance so I can't point you in the direction of a good shop, but hit me up if you ever need anything. If you need suspension work though, I have some great guys I can send you to.

I'm in San Bruno. Just south of San Francisco and Just east of Pacifica. I did get a chance to sign up at BARF. I'm Juggs there. Elskipador comes highly recommended for service but he is at the race this week.
