I would love to see the top 8 final season standings in this exact same order. The only exception would be to substitute Lorenzo in there at 7.
Rossi and Stoner in epic battles.
Nicky is sometimes with them but drops back to a solid 3rd.
Colin and Ben battling it out for 4/5th. Ben wins a race but crashes one to many times. Colin retires, Ben wins it all next year on factory bike.
Capirossi in a swansong 6th giving a big FU to everyone. (OK, I'm really dreaming now but wouldn't it be great?) Faces mandatory retirement age.
Lorenzo despite too many crashes both in races and in practices still has enough higher finishes to beat Pendejo by a point or two. Lorenzo gets another factory ride.
Dani in his worst season finish ever (and Honda's) develops a nasty case of thumb sucking OCD and retires.
Hey, it could happen....

im going to bet Toseland is feeling a bit down lately seeing that he cant run the R1 anywhere near the pace Spies did, and Spies is already running 15 places higher than he did on he M1 after only a handful of tries.

I wonder how much the lack of testng/practice will affect Lorenzo. I hope that he is at 100% in time for the first race, because I believe he will play a large part in determining the finishing order at the end of the season.
Great to see Nicky doing better during testing...I just hope that he can continue to do well when the season starts. I would love to see him give Stoner a run for his money so the Ducati pecking order is not quite so clear cut.
you know, I don't think it'll effect him all to much. that guy is just naturally fast. he and the M1 get along quite well. he has the track knowledge so that's not an issue. if anything the injury itself will be the biggest restraint, but he's allready proven to be one tough little fugger. I think he'll be right back up there no problem.
I bet that Yamaha does not give Collin and Ben the updates that Rossi and Jorge receive all year. Ben will be fast early in the season but I bet he loses touch towards the end of the year. Next year on a factory bike though look out!
For the love of God, Nicky Please get some good results and stay healthy/upright all season.
"For sure we've understood that to make the Ducati turn, you need a bigger effort than what Valentino was used to, physically too, and we didn't expect that. This bike is a lot more physical, the way to make it turn with the required precision is certainly the thing we must focus on at the moment."

"Exercise restraint and discipline, only responding to posts from legit customers and those with constructive positive intent, you will find that the handgrenades explode harmlessly. You have many satisfied customers who are happy to have the parts you've made. My suggestion to you is keep making good parts, keep getting more customers, take care of them and let them speak for you."

I wish for that to be true, but I can't let myself get all carried away yet.
Lorenzo wasn't there, and Pedrosa was struggling through setting up Ohlins for the first time. I'm afraid that will be the logical set of explanations when we look back and say "how did he do so good in testing if this is all he can do in the race?"
Yep. Dani and Jorge will be fighting for podiums week in and week out with Stoner and Rossi. I think Spies will be in the Top 5 at year's end too. That leaves Colin, Dovi, Nicky, Melandri and Capirossi fighting for 5-10.

when you test in 16-17th and get 15th and 16th all first half of a season....and then start to come in come in 3rd and and bunch of 5ths ... that is hard to do. Even harder is to start testing this good on a new version of a bike you fought with all season to get up top 5th.
names of those that didnt:

no one is going to fault you for giving the guy a LITTLE credit, were all grown ups here.

id say its ok to feel happy for Nicky right now..Nicky is dealing with a much bigger set of NEW stuff than Pedrosa is. New chassis, swing arm, suspension and last but not least, a totally different engine (sort of) and the whole ball of wax that brings with it.
Pedrosa has been playing with the Ohlins since August last year..on and off, but for good since the last 2-day test after the last 2009 race.
Lorenzo is the question right now asto where hed be today in testing, and one has to believe right next to Rossi? but who knows.
