Default new three wheel moto concept

YouTube - Rondinaud deisgn three wheels motorcycle concept video 1

this is an original idea by some french guy. I've never seen this approach to the three wheel concept, but this is one I could see myself riding. kinda reminds me of the ELF P34 cars. the guy is obviously not a motorcycle guy. you can tell by the concept video he has no clue about counter steering. but what a cool Idea.

Cool concept and rendering... but that thing is going to be longer than a stretched out Busa... that kinda real estate for an extra wheel isn't just sitting around to be had in todays generation of bikes.

FAIL! You cannot even wheelie the damn thing, let alone the extra rotational mass of another wheel.

Now that I think about it, that probably would be a bitch to turn also.

Its a great idea. I hope they try to build a prototype and see how it actually performs.

Having the drive from two wheels and the breaking from the wheels in front could really change the dynamics of racing. Steering with such a long wheel base could be a challenge, but what if the rear wheel could be manipulated on entry and exit to touch the ground at certain lean angles or during certain drive applications to increase traction? Just a thought. Lets see it happen.

I don't think the wheel base will be all that much longer than a normal bike. the engine is set far forward in the chassis. I'm a little disappointed that the furthest rear wheel isn't driven. if it was the amount off power you could put down coming out of a corner would be unreal, as well as how hard you could brake having that much contact patch toward the front.

That idea may have some traction. (Pun intended) The extra wheel/tire would obviously offer extra contact patch surface area, and be independent of braking forces during cornering. I look forward to seeing the actual end concept in real life.

What if the wheels are smaller than 17"? Who's to say they need to be the same size as current sport bike wheels?

We all can come up with new ideas. Some good and some bad.
As we all surmise, this guy got a CAD program for Christmas and got creative and the design won't get off the CAD screen. The CG is way too high and it will corner like a slug. And the non driven rear wheel will inhibit traction as power is added although it would make nice stable center tire smokies heaps O fun.

the point of the third wheel is an additional contact patch.
look I think we can all agree it's a goofy Idea with some inherent problems. with a little tweak here and there it could work. I just posted it because it was the first time I had seen three wheels done in a more motorcycle way, instead of the traditional delta style setups.

What if the center wheel was a smaller diameter? There is no real engineering reason for all three wheels to be the same size....the center or middle wheel is the drive wheel but that is what sprockets are for.....could be interesting and definitely worth looking at even if it does nothing more than remain a CG piece.
