I think if you need a generator you should buy a Honda of a more recent generation. (pardon the pun)

See if you can shoehorn it into a new RSV4 (after the 17 y/o at the stealership has yanked the new blown one).......

Best Generator in the world. FREE. Just open it up and look for things that are amiss. Looking at it it's a Japanese unit labeled for Deere. Once you can get into it you'll find the manufacturers name and parts may be available.

Generators are not cheap, I love to have a new honda one but might cost $2000.00 or something. If it work thats a great gift, just get a longer line so you just put it out of the way if its LOUD.

A brand-new Honda EU2000 is less than $900.00 everywhere you look.
Quiet, efficient, reliable, and the power is so clean you can plug your PC into it. I've had mine for seven years, all I've done is change the oil.
...but then, nothing runs like a Deere.

Around here (N. MD) folks go krazy for anything JD. If you can get it to work it should be easy to sell on Craigs List or humpadeere.com
