Yeah because they tend to shed little, sharp bits of metal all over the track.

Well, the FIM doesn't seem to have a problem with it......that was Troy Bayliss' signature piece forever (his were actually toesliders but the effect was the same) in World Superbike and MotoGP. No one ever complained to my knowledge.
What it is with OZer's and their "thing" with sparkly pieces?

This was before it started getting all serious and really expensive.

freaking nice dude! I bet thatīs not the only race pic you got, right?
I would have shat me pants on those tires I guess.
Actually it is. In '99 I was in the middle of moving and had most of my stuff stored at a friends warehouse. It burned to the ground. That sure lightened my load, but beyond the basics I had with me, everything else was history.
This pic was in the possession of an ex-girlfriend who gave it back to me.
Oh yeah, tires were Dunlop D364's...plenty of stick for a Hawk!

Was there anything in particular making you staying away from the track in the last years? I mean, once you tasted the poison, itīs hard to stay away from it. No?
I'd freaking love to - don't get me wrong, but...those days are probably behind me. I have kidney failure (2001) and am on dialysis three times a week. Falling off a race bike really isn't an advisable thing for me to be doing these days. That could mess me up pretty good.
I certainly have entertained the thought of selling my 950 Adventure and picking up something cheap, and doing a track day somewhere...go out in the slow class and see if I can still drag my knee...that would be so cool!
But...that's probably a road I don't need to go down.
