I've always had a thing for the 851 but since we're talking about rare bikes, I'd have to say the 888SPO or whatever it was rates pretty high on my list too!
Like this one?
This is the rare(er) 94 LTD, #44 of 100 made.
One of these days Ill stop spending money on other bikes and projects and fix her (dumptruck tried to kill her in 02)
On the contrary most that have been on cycletrader have been between asking $6500-7500. I have been watching them for a couple of years. The blue '94 is super-rare with less than a hundred imported.
Contrary to your contrary this link is typical, and confirms my statement. A well maintained, low mile, original GTS that stalled out at $4500. I've lost track of how many I could have purchased like this on Minneapolis or Fargo Craigslist. Come north I say.
Anyway, nice buy on the RC30. Not pristine or original but still worth all of 10k.

Exactly!!! You MUST promise to give me first dibs if the day ever comes you need or want to sell her. What's she looking like these days?
What's up with all the love for the GTS?!?!? I never quite understood the existence of that bike. LOL!
So going forward a nice variety would be one sport-touring, one newish sportbike, one naked bike, and one vintage bike (20 years or older by my definition). That would be four bikes, the rule for myself would be numbers five and six could be vintage bikes. I have to impose limitations on myself otherwise I would go nuts buying all the ones I wanted but never bought. Also wouldn't buy anything else until all the current ones are up on repair and maintenance.
For sure, see where your coming from, I tend to get caught up in the sports bike thing. I would like an early 70's cb400, cool bike.

I was watching that one too. It doesn't surprise me that that particular bike was bid up to only $4500, Ebay auctions often end this way and the bikes/cars relisted. The dealer isn't selling for that price either. The blue at $4000 would have been a better buy, IMO, than the maroon one at $4500 or more. It doesn't appear the maroon bike has the factory hard bags either, a big minus (at least to me).
Is there a forum or enthusiasts page for the GTS, by the way?
Anyone heard from BLS yet? Four days off the board must be some kind of record. Probably too busy having V4gasms on his Honda Honeymoon...

I think truss might be onto something.
So who is Dolan? Sounds like a serious collector of serious machinery. Best example I have seen of this bike for sale ever. 3100 miles on an '85...damn!

He had posted pictures of some of his bikes here in the photo gallery, but that is defunct now. He posts over at labusas.org and has so many cool bikes it is worth registering over there just to see them. He is going after old bikes more now, I imagine just operating some of those old bikes is quite a thrill and a great way to spend an afternoon.
