Just didn't seem like the guy in the Ferrari was pushing very hard through the corners.

Either way, I'd put either machine in my garage.

It didn't look to me like either of them were pushing anywhere close to the limit...but then again, both vehicles were expensive.

I would have had the MCN guy jump in the Ferrari and drive it immediately after jumping off the bike and then compare those times.

Still...nice video!

I don't know why Ducati didn't just wait another year and drop the capacity down to 800cc and call this bike a GP7 RR. After all Termignoni made a replica exhaust of the GP7 bike. Not a replica exhaust of the GP6 bike which is what they should've done.

The Scud couldn't pass if he wanted to in a corner. What was he gonna do, run the guy over? Lame video!

Lap time for lap time, the car has no chance. (Talking volume production/street cars now) It's been this way since these comparisons started. I recall a very well done test between the early Gixxer 1000 and the Corvette Z06. The Gixxer DEMOLISHED the Z06. Not even close.m It was faster even in the corners..pulling higher G (equivalent) than the car, and absolutely killingthe car on acceleration and speed.

Of course, when one starts to talk genuine race cars...then the tables are turned very quickly. The MGP bikes are DEMOLISHED by the F1 cars.....and many other race class cars.

But volume street production vehicles - the cars don't stand a chance.

to me ir looks as though they just pieced together some footage. at one point you can even see there are two people in the car deep in a conversation. I would imagine they prolly ran their laps at different times. after all very few places will let a car and a bike on track at the same time.

There are a lot of things wrong with this "test"

1 - If you want to compare how fast 2 vehicles are you don't have both vehicles running at the same time as they will interfere with eachother on track.
2 - Speed should be determined by an uninterrupted lap time.
3 - You need to have equally skilled operators in their respective vehicles. A professional and well experience motorcycle journalist vs some amateur rich guy is not even.

This is the way to properly compare a car and a bike:
YouTube - Lamborghini Gallardo Vs Ducati 999

Had Tiff been driving that Scuderia I think the results would have been VERY different. The bike might still have won, but not by such a massive margin. Personally, the test looks pretty staged. The car isn't being pushed AT ALL.

iirc, that was the test in which Kevin Schwantz was at the controls of both (and yes, kev has done some cage racin). The bike was (iirc) 8 seconds and change per lap faster, and did the 0-100-0 accel/braking test in less distance and time than it took the vette to go 0-100
