A buddy of mine did that about 25 years ago on a Honda Nighthawk. Put it on the centerstand, put it in gear, oil the chain with a rag. What could possibly go wrong?
Having a bad day here after reading about one of the Keigwins instructors, a guy who I saw and probably helped me at a number of Keigwin track days....had a bad wreck at an AFM race earlier this year and was paralyzed.
Recently decided that it was not a life he was going to live.
Weird twists of fate how motorcycles can change our lives, or things in our lives forever....

Come onnn... it cannot possibly be real!
While there are plenty of intergalactic w***ers that would do that (and probably did) who would be so utterly stupid to post it on the Internet to be called an idiot?
Sorry about your buddy. Be careful out there fellas, riding and doing maintenance. Take your time, don't rush! Poor dude.

If you are going to do it that way (WHICH YOU NEVER SHOULD!!!! )
Do it on the top section of chain not the bottom...even still....DON'T EVER DO THAT.
Do you think the Segway forums get stuff like this?
"I was going 70"
"No way mine tops out at 34 with an arcogen sparker and wobble arrestor."
The original topic is tragic and shows how easy it is to make a VERY serious mistake. He may have done it a thousand times before with out a problem. Unless someone with some experience sees him and stops him, how is he supposed to know better? Sure common sense should come into play but honestly how many of us have done something and had it work but figured out later how dangerous it really was?
