“Some people wonder all their lives if they've made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem.”

Was that really necessary in a thread about the Marine Corps Birthday?

Back on topic, Semper Fi.

My Dad would say “234 years of tradition un hampered by progress”.

On a serious note, Thanks to all the Marines who have served to defend the rights we hold so dearly.

Oh , full respect for Brothers in Arms , but I'm not the one who sullied them with a quote from that fvcking neanderthal Reagan . World changing accomplishments ? Yeah , as if the wall wouldn't have come down before his PR man's speech . Check out the recent CBC (that's Canadian Broadcasting Corporation--our socialist TV company) interview with Gorbachev who's asked about the retard's speech , and just laughs , making clear that changes were already under way . I know , I know , what else is he going to say , but I used to live in the Eastern Blok and still had friends there who told me the same thing .

Hey Nomo! Cheer up buddy, it can't be THAT bad up there! Take heart and reverence in knowing that you live next door to the greatest country that provides the greatest standard of living for it's people in the history of the world. Maybe you'll learn something. For now, we're showing some respect (look it up...) to the United States Marines, take all that other stuff to the war room. You're welcome.

R. Lee Ermey is a class act, love his show.

If you can read this, thank a teacher... If you can read it in English, thank a Marine ( or any one else that served)

Here's the fvcking thing here, Mr Nomo, I couldn't give a fvck which communist shithole you used to live in, or which free country you're trying to convert now, this conversation is about the US Marines. It's not about which leader was worthy, or which one wasn't. It's not about your political beliefs, or mine. It's not about whether communism or capitalism is better. It's about the men (and women) who were, and are, willing to give all for what they believe. Today is our birthday. Don't sully this day by bringing your politics here. We chose to serve our country, without reservation. We didn't make the policies of the government. Good leaders and bad recognized the greatness of the USMC. Good leaders and bad praised the sacrifice of the men and women who served, without reservation, their country. You should be ashamed.

I'll share a story from my experience. 20 or so years ago, there was an NCO in my company that I couldn't see eye to eye with. Fortunately we weren't in the same squad. If we were in the same club, we would eventually be thrown out for fighting each other. We just didn't get along. I had nothing against him, and I don't think he had anything against me, it was just that way. During Operation Desert Storm, as part of task force Ripper, I was staring a Chinese copy of a Russian light armored vehicle from about 75 yards. The only problem with that was we were looking the wrong way at a 30 mm cannon. No time, no chance, it was too close. The 30 mm starts firing, I can see the rounds, 1, 2, 3 right in front of us, and I wince for the impact. Then, BOOM!!!! fvcking thing is like a fireworks display. Off to my right is the above mentioned NCO flying both birds at me with a grin and a smoking barrel. We didn't like each other, but we are the same. We don't care about politics. We don't care about political correctness. We are the United States Marine Corps. Semper Fidelis.

Apoligies to all. As is my tradition on this day, I've shared a fantastic bottle of scotch with my friends from the past. Unfortunately, many of them are no longer with us, and I fear that I've had more than my share tonight. I normally don't get baited into this type of discussion; however, this is a day that matters more than most.

Good night my friends.
