Hayden has improved to fifth in the second practice, quietly having a pretty good weekend so far.

i wouldnt call it smack as much as talked down. He felt that what Ben had done on the M1 wasnt so spectacular, specially since he went faster than Ben when he tested the M1..... James fastest time during testing was faster than Bens RACE pace THAT weekend....whioch is lame IMO to compare your test times to Bens race pace, specially on race 2.

but he didnt really talk smack... i saw most of his comments more as dismissing Ben, whatever. I lost all respect for Toseland a long time ago.

I do see how James might feel a bit defensive and pressured by the whole Ben thing. i wouldnt expect him to praise Ben or anything of the sorts after he took his job. one, and now has to ride Bens bike in which anything less than a WSBK world title in 2010 would be considered a total failure.

I'll take a wild ass guess and submit that Toseland isn't too worried about whatever happens in his final race in MotoGP.

drsus: I'm with you on the Spies being in contention thing.

VR tries to win EVERY race , down to the last laps , if possible , so it's not as if he's going to be phoning it in for the last race . And considering Spies' decent Q and the fact that he has nothing to lose , I can see him really going for it ; to pass the GOAT would be quite the achievement . I think Rossi is thinking about this possibility a little more than casually . And no , I'm not on crack ... not today .

yeah..next season is a maybe of course. It would be foolish to underestimate a guy AGAIN that put the smack down in WSBK on his first season. I still say Ben will become a contender after a learning year, but he proved us wrong once so......

Rossi? he aint worried, hes had MANY "amazing" rookies come through in his career, and even though hes been beaten, he ups his game every time because of them.

I do think that Rossi has the strongest competition he has ever faced in his career individually in Loerenzo, Casey, Pedrosa and now Spies...never mind the fact that they're all there together to boot...Rossi is only securing his place as the GOAT by beating such amazing talent and at his age.
