I also have tinitus from a SCUBA accident but the foam earplugs work fine for me, even after a 8-10 hour day of riding. I work in construction and get 'samples' of earplugs every new site I'm on.
The ribbed plugs that RAZR51 mentioned are nice but the outer ends can get caught on your helmet if your ear canals aren't too deep.
The hard foam ones (usually are cream in color and flat on both ends) are lousy IMO.
I've come across some that are TOO soft and are only good for a single ride.
Most of the foam ones I've used work great. The ghost shaped and the bullet shaped plugs seem to be the best, can't be too hard or too soft, and most importantly, must be inserted fully/properly to be effective.
