...than it is on the street. And it is getting worse on the street.

Took the bike out yesterday, weather was perfect (60 degrees = no BBQ'd legs from exhaust), just rode around enjoying the bike but...
The number of people driving while reading, talking on cell phones, texting, looking at maps, etc. is getting worse... a lot worse, at least in Virginia. The worst example yesterday was a woman driving a van, reading something plastered against her steering wheel, while her handicapped daughter was riding in the middle seat. A close second was a guy texting in the "fast" lane on I-395, completely oblivious to the traffic stacked up behind him and the fact that he was continually drifting into the lane to his right, because he wasn't paying attention to driving.
I can remember when I didn't have to double check the driver of every single vehicle that I am overtaking just to be sure they weren't going to run into me, and it wasn't that long ago.

OK...I feel better now...until the next time I choose to ride on the street.
Call me an arsehole, but when I see someone texting like you did backing people up and drifting in their lane, I SLOWLY pass 'em, then change lanes to their lane, and then I brake check 'em BIG time. Love to see them panic stomp on the brakes............Make sure it's a late model car (so the other driver is insured). A few months ago Alaska and Utah passed new laws making texting equal to a DUI, and if you cause an injury accident while doing it its a year in the can. Aside from any other penalties, the officer should stomp the mobile device into the ground before he even starts writing the ticket......
