Given their relatively finite resources (compared to the larger players), it is probably a wise move on their part.

they have stayed in WSBK and played their market safe IMO. when the perelli cup started what fcatory japanese teams stayed to compete?

if you think for a second no WSBK makes the new 1300R and the new 949s sell i think you are mistaken, will not sell for long. there are people that have so much money they buy anything but there the whole lambo comparo to ducati makes me chuckle. ducati is no longer the exclusive niche it once was when bayliss was wailing and i don't agree they can sell superbikes with no superbike team. i am sure the monster will sell and stuff as that crowd is no so into the hype but for most the appeal of ducati is the exclusive i have what they race

Please feel free to chuckle away, it`s free after all.

It has been proven time and time again by various manufacturers pulling out of numerous racing series and their sales figures changing very little, if any. Come to think of it, does Bimota race anywhere yet they are still a much sought-after high-end brand Also, arguably the most commercially successful sportbike line has been the Suzuki GSX-Rs yet they have enjoyed very little success at the world championship level. Using your logic, they should have disappeared a long time ago.

Ok, my turn to chuckle

OK, so matt maladin and ben spies and yoshimura have not sold literally thousands of gixxers for suzuki then

Bimota is a drop not a splash. you are reaching for the exception not the rule. there are little chopper guys who sell like 6 bikes a year and don't race either but that is not ducati is it? their whole like is based upon the uppety race bred vtwin line up and i am not sure stopping racing would sell 1098r's and Nicky haden 848's for them any more but you seem to think so, have at it

I am inclined to believe that the success of the Ducati twins has less to do with their engine configuration than it does with the quality of the race team and their development abilties. KTM has had a 1200cc twin for the same length of time and struggles to get points in superstock.

Ducati has also won a championship in the highest level of competition with a V4, against all the major manufacturers in 2007.

I have little doubt that if Ducati chose to build a 1000cc V4 homolagted for World Superbike and available at a reasonable cost (in spirit of the rules) they would win with that too. If they decided to build a 1100cc triple it would also be developed into a winner.

What this has to do with Aprilia I do not know.

Now I realize this a tall leap for someone of your intelligence but there is a world outside the US borders and Mladin`s exploits mean very little outside the US. Also, if you re-read my post (you can read right?), I made mention of world championship, NOT AMA. Besides, Ducati has enjoyed realtively little on-track succes in the US in recent years and yet their bikes still sell. Care to explain that one?

Anyhow, I am done with this discussion, I give up trying to have a reasoned discussion with a moron (and a volatile one at that)....

because people watch TV

you also mentions bimota, suzuki, lambo LMAO and those are having alot to do with ducati and racing Vtwins as well right?

the bikes don't have to world raced to sell now because of Technology, you have heard of that right?

if ducati stops racing i think they will belly up so as i stated first, their whole line DEPENDS on the superbike twin or now V4

i do not agree with you and insults mean little too me Mike
