Karhrma, baby.
That's great news. Hope he doesn't get probation.

A phuc it, throw the book at him!
the guy purposely got too close to a guy on a bike.... known full well that even touching at that speed can kill him and for sure hurt him bad enough to send him straight to ER IC...then he purposely touched him anyway.....done deal, fuk him... now he needs to be touched by a large inmate.

Well, I imagine that in any prison population that there are riders present and when they find out what this guy is in for, he will be in for more than he ever imagined in his worst nightmare.

Almost makes me want to shed a tear

Bladerunner -

While I couldn't get the Iowa courts site to work, I am glad to hear that the system is taken this seriously.

I cannot imagine what was going through the guy's head when he hit you (especially while test-driving someone else's vehicle!); I am really glad that he was identified and arrested.

How are your expenses being handled while this works its way through the system? Hopefully your medical expenses are not an additional burden to you and your family.

I hope you are well on the way to recovery, and that you continue to heal rapidly. Please keep us posted on developments in your case.

Repeat after me.... "Full face helmet everytime I swing a leg over my bike" Had a crash a really long time ago and saw a full face helmet save my friends face, for real.

Glad to hear you are well and that this degenerate is getting the book thrown (or shoved up his @$$) at him.

Keep us informed.

What kind of sick in the mind mentality would a peron need to do what he did

Attemted murder would seem an appropriate criminal charge.

Thanks again guys for all the kind comments.

I have healed up nicely. As of right now, I have no residual pain, my ribs are completely healed, and outside of some scars from the roadrash (wearing jeans), you would never know I spent an extremely painfull month and a half healing from the collision. Multiple broken ribs and bruised lungs suck some serious balls.

And yes, I'll never, ever get on a bike again without a full-face helmet. I definately saved my life. Without it, I would have had a closed-casket funeral.

My hospital bills totalled about $78,000. I have contacted all the EMS/ER/Hospital billing departments and given them written instructions to send all bills to my attorney. It's great, because I haven't had to spend on single dime of my own money on those bills. Basically, I told them all to get fvcked, and talk to my attorney about it. They don't call me, they don't send me any bills. Talk all the shit you like about attorneys, but a good one is worth it.

I haven't been on a bike since that day. My Nightster was destroyed, and by the time I healed up the racing/track season was over. I probably will not get another streetbike anytime soon. 2010 will be a track-only riding year, and to tell you the truth, I have no desire to get back on a street bike.
