Default Totally stupid and worthless thread

So, my Razr phone got wet and began to act up and the battery wouldn't stay charged......so, I schlep down to the AT&T store and get an iPhone (cheapest one they had).....so, now I am downloading lots of cool apps for it (I'm in the construction business so I loved the bubble level, inclinometer and other useful apps)......so, now I want to download some motorcycle racing-type ringtones but the only ones I have found that are worth listening to are from some source that charges a whopping $2.99 per tone....ain't gonna happen.....and some other site that wants to charge an astronomical $9.99 a month....yeah, sure. I thought that motogp.com had some but can not find them on their site now. Anybody got any suggestions, leads, sources of free ones? What kinds of apps do you have on your phone?

dynolicious and hud (heads up display) are pretty cool, and pretty acurate too. there is also an app. that will work with your gps to show you where red light and speed cameras are. search them on you tube there are some pretty good videos of them in action. for pure entertainment value I like i-sniper, for when you're having a bad day and want to blow some commies away. and the zippo lighter is good for a laugh.

Stephon Roncada designed a Supercross application that is SICK! U can seatbounce and control your pitch in air etc etc. Very cool app, but also $9.

The other one I have is the emergency radio app. You can listen to any police scanner that streams live on the InterWeb. So basically, U'll know they're kicking down your door before they actually do it.

I just picked up that Palm Pre a month ago, a lil smaller than I wanted but the iPhone was too big and I wasnt interested in going back to ATT. IMHO, noone beats SPRINT's everything plan right now, Verizon wanted $50 more /month for the same features, wasnt gonna happen.

Frank....did you read that thing about where Palm invented hacks for the Pre so users could download iPhone apps.....Apple crippled the hacks.....Pre invented new ones.....Apple crippled them.....big battle going on....Apple is determined to not let Pre users download apps from iTune? Totally hilarious.....no adult supervision present.

How do you like your Pre?

Unrelated to iphone but as your old one got wet, here's a story. The sons wife did a load of laundry at my house and her phone went through the washer AND dryer. Needless to say we assumed it was toastarola. I charged the battery and it indeed had some life but limited. I set it on top of the fridge for a day where the warm air exits and holy shit, the thing works like nothing ever happened. +1 for Samsung phones.

Hack wars. Neat. Next thing we'll hear about is Apple creating a covert bot to jam up the Pre.

its not a hack that allows you to use apple apps on the pre...it merely allows you to sync your music library with itunes.

i was pleasantly surprised by the usefulness of the iphone. In my industry, guys are making very good apps faster than i can download them and now i dont have to carry a bunch of crap and graphs around to get my job done, love it. Some of the are upwards of $40!! but are so useful and well done on the iphone that its actually worth a lot more to me.

i do wish it would multitask a bit more

Yea that's what a lot of cowrokers/friends said, truth is my drop zones havent changed much if at all compared to my former plan (Verizon)......

RK- Overall, I like it a lot but I miss some of the simple things my old cell did, like forwarding a TM to another person or even just taking video.....two things I dont think this phone does or havent figured out yet. I do really like the UI and the simplicity of closing out apps.

As far as the original ringtone question.... just make your own man! Its really simple nowadays... record to your laptop and upload to your phone... my ringtone is me playing my drums... I have been thinking about making a symphony with by dirtbike, sportbike and cruiser!

I was a long time Sprint cust and changed over a year ago to ATT. Everytime I'd call Sprint w/a question, theyd answer it and then ask if i wanted to upgrade something. Id say no and go on my way. Months go past and I decide to look at my statement. Lo and behold theres a international long distance plan for 5 bucks month! I got tired of that shiite.

Sorry to threadjack. As you can see Im traumatized by these phone companies.

Since this is a cellphone thread I recently picked up a Sprint MiFi card. It's a wireless access point that can host up for 5 devices and lasts upwards of 4 hours on a charge. It's very cool to walk into a meeting and have it in a pocked or backpack and be logged into the internet of my WiFi. No drivers, no doggle handing out of USB port.

yeah man. I think that is prolly the coolest app I've seen yet.

another cool one is red laser. say you run out of chain lube or honda polish. take a picture of the bar code and it'll tell you where to buy it and how much it costs. as well as other info about the product.

so on to other topics on hand.
Verizon is hands down the best network. got my old lady a voyager on Verizon and that thing works every where all the time.

I have a black berry for work and it is the biggest piece of SH*T I have ever come across. people say their great for business and such, but it's more of a hassle than it's worth. all of the "business tools" don't work quite right. you can cut and paste, but it takes a lot of effort. MS word docs get all jumbled up. it takes 20 steps to adjust the ringer volume. and in typical microsoft form the apps crash all of the time. it's on the sprint network so naturaly it drops calls all of the time and texts take a few days to show up. and worst of all the internet is mobile web B.S.

the iphone is great does everything flawlessly. interface is perfectly easy to use and intuitive. I may not be able to open word attachments, but there are ways around it. I have even turned it into the ultimate lightweight head unit in my weekend racer. this thing is possibly the most versatile piece of technology I have ever seen. I can calculate my hp and quater mile times, check to make sure the kitchen sink is level, find my way anywhere and make sure I don't get a ticket doing it, scan barcodes, watch movies, check in on the zilla boards and emails, make slide shows for presentations at work and on and on and on.
