Talk talk talk... show me a bike you have owned with more titles...
I don't buy bikes based on titles, I buy them based on how they fulfill my needs and how they function (call it an anti-Harley concept if you will). I am secure enough that I ride for my own pleasure, not to impress others. So, my VTR1000 doesn't have any titles to its pedigree, but it's a damn fine streetbike (even better with mods it now has) which does everything I need it to do. And that is all that matters. If you're riding or choosing your mount to impress others, you're in it for the wrong reasons (besides, you'll wow way more of the mindless masses with anything saying H-D on the tank...).

I dont know what bikes he's owned but since you bring it up as if no ones surpassed the RC45......hasnt the Ducati 916 alone (nevermind the 996/998/999 and beyond) won a whole hell of lot more titles than the RC45 Larry?
I offered proof that the RC45 was really ahead
of it's time
Let's see then, the ZX-7R won just as many WSB titles as the RC although it benefited from a mere fraction of the support, development and riding talent. Now then, you would have to concur that THAT is a bike that was ahead of its time.

Definitely.......If one is considering a single race win a "title" the 916's 5 year run would absolutely blow the RC45 away. I don't know the break down for individual race wins, but the 916 won the WSBK championship in '94, '95, '96 and '98.....So if you're counting single race wins as titles, I would imagine the lowly V2 916 kicked the crap out of the RC45 as "titles" are concerned. It looked a hell of a lot better crossing that finish line as well

Ok I concur... the ZX7R and the RC45 were true homologated racers and
they were ahead of there time... check out Marv's ZX7R I did all the
custom machine work...

I didn't buy Mr.RC45 based on titles... I bought it because it fulfills my
needs... I ride it for my own pleasure and not to impress others... its a
damn nice street / race / touring bike... it just so happens to have 21 titles
to its pedigree... so it deserves respect...

Talk talk talk... just show me an article where a kitted Ducati made the new
Aprilia V4 feel slow like the kitted RC45 did and then we got something to
discuss...
For that matter show me an article where a stock 916 out performed a stock
RC45 in a shoot out???
You sure did meet Marv my neighbor... just think 2 rare homologated race
bikes on the same street... now all we need now is for a R7 and a RC30 owner
to move in...
dont worry, I keep playing the powerball in MN and that R7 will be in the stable in no time. I have a good feeling about this next Wednesday's drawing!

fact is its still a decade old Larry, time marches on-- get over it, in another decade it prolly wont even be on par with out of the box middle weight bikes.....
It's on par with out of the box middle weights now?

GSXR1000 has done it too...

so
exactly how many titles did your actually bike win?? the one you own not ones like it
and BTW they are motorcycles not people, they are incapable of "deserving respect"
i love how now your banterous defense is the new V4 with 250 cc's more motor, surely you jest?
you miss my point, any factory race bike from 10 years ago should be about on par with todays off the rack bike (some a little better some a little worse) this isnt anything special and in fact is by design. its called trickle down. I certainly would hope all manf. are putting the technology of their best race bikes 10 years ago into the bikes anyone can buy off the shelf.
to put out some claim about how fantasic that makes the 10yo full fact. race is kinda absurd. JMHO
now what would make it awesome is if a full factory race bike from 10years ago was better than the full factory race bike of today, but that isnt going to happen unless a manf. does something horribly wrong.

In BSLs defence I think he genuninley ownes his bike for the right reason and loves it for tghe wrong reason although Larry loves all motorcyles and I can respect him for that even though his constant preching gets on my t*ts. Unlike I suspect Aus rc45 who just seems content to boast about it's spec and value compared to "run of the mill inline 4 Japanese bikes." Typical loud mouth Aussie really I guess.

I'm sure if you were to give the right builder $80,000 he could build a 916 that would absolutely decimate the Aprilia RSV4. As for your other question, can you show me an article where the RC45 outperformed a 916 SPS in a shootout??? If yes, please post the ENTIRE article

+1 Even if it did deserve respect.......I wish Larry would practice what he preached and show respect to the I4 of the ZX7R AND GSXR and the V2 of the Ducati.......as each of the has amassed more "titles" that the RC45. The V2 of the Ducati 916 had 4 times as many WSBK CHAMPIONSHIPS, so I definitely think some respect for that machine is in order
