I really morned the loss of John Britten... I've always wanted to meet him in
person... I think we would have gotten along fine... as back yard tinkerers
we both have those labor of love mod stories to share... not to mention we
both own a special exotic bike that is good enough to challenge the old
status quo...
I have to disagree with you here Larry, you would have gone on and on and on about the V4 and he would have said no it is a V-twin!!!!!

52 races 5 wins 0 championships .09% start to win percentile...
New 22,200 used 15,120
Having tried the road bike route with the YZF750 Yamaha abandoned
this as a bad idea and instead opted to create a homologated special
like it had with the OW O1... Enter the OW O2... a true homologated
racer loaded with Ohlins front and rear... the engine had titanium rods
and valves... slipper clutch... and a first for a production Yamaha-fuel
injection... the frame was gleaned from Yamaha's GP knowledge banks...
What a bike!!! Like the RC30 and RC45 everyone wanted an R7... even
though the road bike was sold in restrictive form... it didn't take
much to uncork 135RWHP... If it wasn't for an ill advised diet Haga
could have won the 2000 title... he took 4 wins and second spot after
getting docked 45 points due to use of a banned drug ephedrine...

I think John would have gotten a kick out riding Mr.RC45 and I also believe we
would have agreed on the advantage of a V4 over a V2 given the same size of
course...
I love how the carbon shows through the paint work...
Who ever buys this prize I offer to do the machine work for a Brembo billet
radial caliper upgrade... also I can hang a billet 4 pot Gp caliper on the rear...
I think Rocky is referring to a 360º race bred V4 like what Mark... Drebber and I ride... not the 180º crank V4 VFR...
Funny, now it is no longer enough that it's a V4, it has to be a 90 degree V4 with a 360 degree crank....
Curiously, Ducati engineers strayed away from the 360 crank on the D16RR, opting instead for the TwinPulse arrangement. Also, Aprilia use a narrower cylinder spacing on the RSV4, as do Suzuki and Honda (I beleive) on their current MotoGP racers. Similarly, in re-phasing the timing on the M1/R1 crank, Yamaha engineers opeted for something closer to a 180 degree arrangement (could easily have copied a 360 V4 crank but chose not to...). Could it be that the magical "one size fits all" formula espoused by Larry is no longer relevant? Could it be that time has marched on? Remember there was a time when big Singles ruled the roost, but who race a Single in MotoGP now? Seems the V4 will soon join the ranks of the BSA Singles in GP lore....

What do you mean soon?
BSA Gold Stars a PROPER pure bred race bike make the RC45s FEW successes pale into insignificance have a higher raity value and monetary value, as do Brough Superiours and Vincent Black Shadows actually the list goes on and on.
Larry and I may be the only two people on this board who own and ride a V4.
Speak for yourself son...................

How about putting John Kocinski's 97 HRC factory RC45 up against Max Biaggi's 09 factory Aprilia and see what happens???
The Ape would decimate it. Besides, despite all the effort and resources thrown at the 45 by HRC, John K was the only one able to claim a championship with it... hardly the stuff of legends....

fact is its still a decade old Larry, time marches on-- get over it, in another decade it prolly wont even be on par with out of the box middle weight bikes.
face it your living in the past, that headline you keep posting up is just for show, fact is that is an RC45 with the absolute best kit that could be thrown at it from Honda's deep pockets and you are thumping your chest cause it keeps up with a stock bike 10 years later, it ought to, now go throw 10k at the RSV4 and see where its performance goes, throw 10k at the RC45 they tested, watch the RC45 disappear in the mirrors of the RSV4.
The RC45 won more than one championship... fact is it won
21 Titles...
4 Isle of Man TT F1 titles...
3 Isle of Man Senior titles...
3 World Endurance Championships...
2 Suzuka 8 Hour wins...
2 AMA Superbike Championship...
2 Daytona 200 wins...
1 World Superbike Championship...
2 Australian Superbike Championships...
1 Macau Grand Prix...
1 Ulster Grand Prix
Poor Larry, since when do single races count as "titles" (quite a few in that list of yours)? Besides, having been campaigned for 6 years, and with all the resources thrown at it (likely as much as what the competition spent combined), to say nothing of the riding talent, 21 so-called titles is really a rather poor showing.
We all appreciate your love of your bike but some of your beliefs and claims are threading on delusional (and I am being polite). Sorry man, but time marches on. We are no longer 1994, not even the 90's, time to leave the past where it belongs, in the past.

Talk talk talk... show me a bike you have owned with more titles...

True... time marches on but I offered proof that the RC45 was really ahead
of it's time and I think my claim that 4Vs are on the rise is coming true...
