Default Speed Hd

For the longest time I have been on SPEED stardard DEF, and I just purchased a new 42" LCD to replace my long owned 36 HD CRT. I needed 3 guys just to get the dump CRT outta my house (I carried the 42" LCD by my self BTW). My question is MotoGP and WSBK in HD on SPEED? I notice some of the car stuff is in HD but not sure if moto racing is in HD yet. Has anyone seen HD on motoGP yet and is it worth the coin? Cuz SPEED SD is kinda not very clear, so looking to upgrade on DirecTV to HD.

Says it's HD on their schedule but I never watch it on TV cuz there are way too many commercials.

Kool, looking to upgrade soon before the next race or so. So if you guys don't watch it on speed then you're all download torrents then I guess, then you have to watch it on the computer screen which drives me nuts. So has anyone watch the races in HD on SPEED? Is it that much clearer?

You can hook your PC up to your new fancy TV and watch the races live from the site in Hi-Res in 42".

I think that they technically broadcast in HD, but its only 480p or something like that. Better than SD imo, but not great. Best part about it for me is that its broadcast in 5.1 audio, that's fun!

I've had Dish HD for about 8 months now. I finally got Speed in HD a couple months ago. I've watched several MotoGP and WSBK races on Speed HD this season and it's great. Much better than standard.

Bet you guys didn't know that Speed doesn't present ANY international race series in HD besides F1. They're getting a decent SD 480P signal from europe and editing it to fit there time slot and presenting it. This is why WSBK/GP are NOT live broadcasts.

Speed also, doesn't shoot local AMA in HD either. The only race they did this season was Daytona, which was shot using an east coast based HD truck, it looked pretty dam good. After that, everything you've been seeing since is old SD cameras, not even 480P, just standard interlaced shit.

So why spend the money? ya ain't gettin' real HD content in most cases and unless you've got rabbit ears, you ain't even seeing decent quality HD. The reason we've all moved to HD is because the satellite and cable providers have literally turned down the bit rate of the SD signals, to force all of you consumers to PAY more money for HD, so they can charge more money. Its a total scam and nobody can catch it, there is no evidence... But I've built those facilities like the distribution center in Long Beach for Dish network. SD is running at 2.5mbps, HD is running at 3.8mbps. I mean, most cable modems are at least 5mbps... Man, are they kidding!?!?!?!

BTW, just to get the standards correct:

Broadcast (analog) TV is 525i (525 lines interlaced)
DVD's are 480p (720x480) and its standard def
Broadcast HD (digital) is either 1280x720 or 1920x1080. Those are the only 2 HD resolutions and can be interlaced or progressive. I'm not sure if they're dishing out 1080P very much, maybe the movie channels, but its super high bandwidth compared to everything else.

So if you see 480p anywhere, its straight-up standard def, DVD quality. 525 is officially a dead format...

We probably have the same TV, although I paid $900+ back in January

I have Direct TV also, but I get so annoyed by the commercials that I usually just go look up who won online.

Does anyone know if Laguna on FOX is going to be in HD?

Now if this weekend is going to be on FOX I think its real HD. Just my guess, afterall is a national channel. That also reminds me to DVR on FOX Thx!!!

BTW sburns did you see a big difference in the Vizio VS other brands, cuz man there is so many TV out there these days. I was shopping for a long time you can buy one from 699 to 1599 and I was at the store and I can't really tell the difference. These days there is the 720P , 1080P , 120mh, 240mh and 5ms or 2ms refresh rate there is just too many options. I decided to go with a cheap Vizio for now and I am suprised how happy I am for coming from a 4:3 tv to a 16:9. At least I can now enjoy my PS3 the way it was design for. I also try a bluray for the first time I watch "Dark Knight" and I was wowed by how nice it look in 1080P full HD.

I compared the ones at Wal-Mart and Best Buy and bought the one I thought had the brightest picture. I knew I wanted 1080p, and did not want Plasma. 42" was the biggest that would fit in our entertainment center. If we had done a wall mount I would have stretched to get a 60" Orion LCD that we use in the conference rooms where I work for presentations. They are awesome.

It so happenned that the Vizio had the best picture (IMO) and was among the cheapest, so it was an obvious choice. I wasn't impressed with the Sony models I looked at at all.

One thing I don't like about it is that there isn't a signal meter for the over the air channels. I had trouble with our CBS affiliate once they went to HDTV. It was a pain to climb into the attic, tweak the antenna, check for a picture, repeat, repeat.

One thing is for sure, the shows in standard definition look like crap. Which unfortunately remains most of the things on TV.

Did you unstretch your picture while watching standard definition cuz its filmed in 4:3 so if you watch it in 16:9 you're stretch the picture so the ratio didn't look right. But then the draw back would be the black bars on the sides.

I cut back my comcast to basic - just enough to get 1 to 99. I then upped my Internet to 50Mb and I live off of the Torrents/live races. Since I work for an International company I log into my Germany VPN Server and use there Proxy to watch the races. Most of the races are up on the torrents in HD minus commercials about the same time they are on SPEED channel.

So do you connect your computer via DVI to HDMI to your TV? Or you just watch it on your computer screen? I am kinda new to torrents I did some music in the pass months but I just checked on "mininova" and wsbk and motogp stuff in not in HD just reg AVI stuff. Or does the Mpeg4 stuff = HD? Thx.

I use DVI on a Media Center PC to a 65" Mitsubishi big screen (long story on this screen but it was basically given to me by a neighbor who moved back to Russia). I use ATI video cards and the ATI Command and Control (CCC) recognizes my TV and sets it to 1080i. When I watched MotoGP I simply log into the sit and set it to full screen and when I watch superbike I share the connection via a proxy app from my laptop and pipe it over to the media center. When I download the torrents I put them on my Windows Home Server and feed them to my XBox 360.

So I need to drop off my torrent file to my PS3? How do I do that, via a thumb drive?
