Default ZX-10R fuel filter

I just looked at a 06 ZX-10R and not only is there no mention of fuel filter in the maintenance schedule but there seemed to be no fuel filter, including no sock or screen in tank. How can this be? Anyone out there familiar w the latest doings of Kawasaki? Thanks Randy

Man, I have been all over the ronayers.com parts fiche and do not see any trace of a fuel filter......maybe you will have better luck as they have every part on the motorcycle on the fiche......

If it's anything similar to the GTR/Concours fuel pump there is no separate fuel filter as on the VTR-SP or Pan European.
You need to take the pump apart and manually clean it...
Aussies had lots of issues with the GTR fuel pump and their own dirt filled fuel.
Have a look at what it's like cleaning a fuel pump here: 1400GTR - Fuel Pump - 1400GTR Technical Discussions - 1400GTR Forums - 1000GTR & 1400GTR Australian Owners Group - Message Board - Yuku

Default Zx-10 missing fuel filter

Thanks guys. I conclude it really has no filter the same way I found no screen in tank, i took it apart. The owner had been sold a seperator and when she asked the parts guy again on my urging, was told that was the filter. So the parts guy did not know, no shocker. The high pressure line from pump goes straight to the injectors, where there may be screens.
Your mention of any other engineers not incorporating a filter (GTR) makes me sure Kawasaki is capable of the same oversight. The quick connectors and plastic line eliminate the easy addition of a filter. Also no apparent place to add sock to pump. Crazy but true, Thanks again. Randy

Default Fuel filter non existent

Thanks Roadkill, for the redirect to Ron Ayers, and thanks Desperate SP2 for the link to the 1400 GTR. I did not even know what a GTR was, thought it might be a formula car, but went to the video and noted that the in tank unit looks very similar to the ZX-10 unit. If she develops problems in the future (currently only 8k miles) I will know to open the in tank unit to find screen. Ciao for now. Randy Still flogging my old 996
