If Ben goes to Motogp, I think he'd but making a big mistake going to a satelite team, even the Tech3 squad. But if he wants to go Motogp nows the time when he's healthy, young and determined to ride the wheels off!

If he goes to Yamaha, he won't have a choice as rookies are barred from factory teams if they run more than two bikes. He could only go to Rizla Suzuki as the factory team is the only option for Suzuki. But he would be pretty foolish, IMO, to do that. The Suzuki has always been down on power.

With the new rumors that Rossi wants to ride for three more years not just one, Spies best hope would be to be the #4 Yamaha man in 2010, and at best #3 in 2011. There appears to be a lot of candidates for the Tech 3 ride, it is the bike of choice for rookies next year. If Spies wants to make $2M, it won't be there. Supply and demand.

Or he could stay in WSBK for another couple of years and be the big fish in the smaller pond. Probably with a couple of championships, 40 or so wins, and a few more million in the bank. Then transfer over in Rossi's last year as the heir apparent to get his factory ride (alongside Lorenzo) after Rossi retires.

He's talking to Tech3 but also to some other teams... I would guess that it's just talk. Ben knows in GP podiums are all about the team.

Since when did they have this rookie rule? That sounds like a dumbass idea.
As much as Ben is strong.... Jorge is making a mark for himself too... so the Factory seats at Yamaha are going to be booked for sometime, until Rossi retires.

No one would want to go to Ducati after seeing Melandri and Hayden fail... so what are the real options?

HONDA? He could work his way up into being the lead Honda rider. At some point they will give up on Dani boy!

Well, Ben Spies signed a 2 year deal with Yamaha. With his frustration level as high as it is right now, perhaps he might have a case to break his contract. Still, if he goes to GP, Tech 3 looks like the right place.

Though, the rumor I'm most interested in is Colin Edwards taking over for Max Biaggi next season.

Tech3 has already said that they would sign Edwards for 2010 right now if they could. You could infer from this that Edwards doesn't yet want to sign with them, rather than the usual other way around. I don't see him going to Rizla Suzuki or Repsol Honda, so a private Tech3 ride is his best option in MotoGP.

IMO, this lends weight to the possibility that he is exploring a WSBK ride. Possibly even signed already. From what I have read he retains a good relationship with Aprilia from his Cube days. Biaggi and especially Nakano simply aren't progressing on the RSV4. If anything they are going backwards as the season goes on. Biaggi isn't riding for beer money, so I would assume Aprilia can afford Edwards as well.

if Spies can't land a GP top tier team with chances of top 5 finishes why leave WSBK? WSBK is the big show now anyway... even Rossi wants to race WSBK.
