I've had 4 Ducati's, never left me stranded or had anything beyond typical maintenance, go figure. Albeit, maintenance was a bit expensive....
I had a '96 SS CR and a '99 M900S and had the same experience. I had a rental ST2 vapor lock on me once, but a 15 minute wait and filling the gas tank cured that.

(its more of a bicycle lock and I believe Buell dealerships everywhere are doing this) I went and test rode it a few weeks ago and it was actually pretty cool. When was the last time any of you guys test rode a bike at a stealership? Of course, they had better give us test rides since Harley took a bunch of baleout money etc.....and as far as looks go and the heat ducting problems- since the radialors are side mounted (like the VFR, VTR1000 and RC51) why wouldn't a Superhawk type fairing work to cure some of the ugliness?
I fail to see any similarity between those bikes in the slightest. The headlights and side-mounted radiators are similar I guess, but both are compeltely unique.
I believe the 1125's have Magneti Marelli ECU's. But, its been a long day, I'll double check. I got some insurance quotes, so I may be going for a test ride soon. I like the CR because its a street bike then again I do really like the body kit for the R, its a nice option. I do not like the asthetics of the stock R but seems Buell fixed all the issues since its debut. Then again with the CR you'll be fully aware if you take it above 80mph being a naked bike an all. Riding motorcycles is alot more of a PITA than when I lived over seas with all the LEOS every where.

I wonder if there is some irony in the 1125 from the persepctive of H-D marketing. For decades they used the POS air-cooled engine because it maintained the Harley tradition, to the disgust of many (most?) buyers who own other brands. Now that they have a bike with no H-D "DNA" they are probably worried few of their faithful would want it, although now people that would have never considered a Buell before now have another alternative.
I actually kind of like the 1125r, the bulbous fairing works with the bike, at least to my eye. The exhaust is ugly as hell, but nothing the aftermarket can't fix.
I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see a 1200cc version with chain drive as a limited edition for next year, maybe $14.5k. That would be an interesting bike.
Macciato you need to wander over to badweatherbikers.com also known as badweb if you are thinking Buell. I used to own a tuber and liked it a bunch and am seriously considering selling my RC51 and getting an XB with the proceeds. I have come to the realization I lack the talent to ride a Superbike (even an old one) to it's limits without hurting myself so in the interests of self preservation less is more.

Went for a test ride on a red CR, and I'm impressed.
I'm looking for a street bike and this thing does that task very well.
Kinda feels like a ZX-10 before the hit, electric is the best way I can describe the two. You know that power on tap in any gear? The brakes were just fine, pretty good actually, but these aren't "track" conditions we're talking about. There wasn't ALOT of buffeting from the wind, but then again I rode over on a SUMO, so what do I know? I didn't like where the clutch lever engaged, seemed my friction zone was almost beyond my reach no matter where I adjusted the lever. I wear XL or XXL in gloves for the record. So that may be perceived as snatchy from those who don't take note. Other wise the bike is very smooth the slipper although not the "ramp" type worked great IMO, I could barely get any engine breaking at all which was fine I just similated it with the rear break when I didn't feel comfortable with the new tech. All in all its a great bike and I would be getting it as my next bike, but I'm torn cuz I was offered a better deal on a sport bike.
Times are tough.. if you really like the Buell go in and haggle a lot. Even walk out a couple of times. I heard they are "Decent" bikes but do look over what you are getting since build quality can be poor. Part of me is interested.. I like how they sell kits for just about everything but also love the roast your thighs. If you get one would love a write up.

Hope you got a great deal b/c here in Canada they can't give them away . Rode it a few times at a demo day and liked the quick reving , but don't like the looks .
I'm in Canada. However I'm specifically in Newfoundland, one Hardley dealer in 20+ hours drive. Ergo, they give nothing away here...
I rode it at a demo day to and didn't like the clutch engagement, but everything else I liked, including the looks. I'm not a high mileage rider (young family, shitty climate) so I think I would enjoy the bike.

I feel your pain fellow Canuck . Here in Ontario , at the demo day the special price on the R was $9999CAN and I was told that they would sell it for $9K+Tax . I think MSRP is approx $15300 .
Your wrists might be a little sore but easily done my friend , and there's some warm weather left . Or you could have the dealer ship it to you . I had a small bike shipped from Moncton to ON for $500 . Don't know if they are selling the bike for that price any more since the demo was Aug 1 . You can contact Barrie H-D ; sorry don't have the # with me .
