I can only conclude that they sincerely do not want to attract new fans or retain the few that they still had last year. Why would anyone actually pay to attend these races?
Does the name Roger Edmondson ring a bell............(he got several million of your AMA due's money a few years ago, remember?

They are trying to turn it into NASCAR and have Speed or someone give it a complete weekend of coverage. In order to do that they need to generate demand - but limiting it to 1 hour every other weekend and late night Saturday Roger will either kill it off (which is what I believe he wants to do to show the AMA up for voting him out ten years ago) or turn it into NASCRAP. Either way he has won - he'll either kill it and rebirth it into the abomonination of his dreams or let it die. Either way the guy is the anti christ on this planet in my opinion.

Still the best thing that ever happened was that this group worried Ben Spies enough to make him cross the pond and kick ass in world superbike, so we owe them that much gratitude.
The talk about Edmondson wanting to kill off AMA because of "bad feelings" is silliness. I really don't understand the horrible coverage that they have set up with Speed however.
just finished reading that. dont know what goes on behind closed doors, my guess is DMG wants more $$$$$$$$$ between speed running the races a week or more later and DMG doing stupid things with the series by this time next year CCS or WERA should runnung the series, doing a better job too

I agree - it can't be Edmondson killing it for his own personal reasons. He's an employee doing his job.
So, is he this incompetent? I don't think anybody is this incompetent. Would the SPEED channel do anything for the NASCAR folks? I think so. Draw your own conclusions, but I think everything is going according to plan. Not my plan or your plan, but somebody's plan...
Don't know where you heard there weren't any feeds at the track, but I raced Daytona and there most certainly was a live feed at the track, both on big screen monitors at the track and through CCTV on pit wall.
I'm not saying I agree with everything they are doing and trying to race with them at Daytona was a big cluster F*(K but I will say this.... Superbike in my opinion has been a snooze fest for the last several years. The Daytona Superbike race was the first interesting AMA Superbike race I can remember. What fun is it when Suzuki has such superior equipment that the results are so one sided. I'm not taking anything away from Matt and Ben, they are fantastic riders. But if you remember the Road Atlanta round from last year when Spies crashed, he was passing other factory superbikes 2 and 3 at a time on his way back to almost the front. Fantastic rider but there is something to be said for the machinery when he is pulling that much in the straights.
So trust me when I say, spectators don't know half of the BS going on. One example is my teamate crashed at the CCS event the weekend before at Daytona and the bike wasn't 100 percent. I had my SV with us so we asked if we could run a spare bike and were told, read the rule book, which says only Superbike and Daytona SB can run a back up bike. Then right next to us James Gang crashed their Buell in practice and just came back and jumped on thier B bike. They weren't in our class but I asked the officials if we could run a B bike, 3 different officials said yes but my bike wasn't tech'ed so during the race we were black flagged 2x as a result. On Monday I spoke to Bill Syfan who said you can have 2 back up bikes. I cut and pasted the rules and Al Lungren replied saying you can only run one bike and everyone else was wrong. It seems everything is last minute and not completely planned out. I'm hopefull this work in progress will continue to improve.
But I will say this again, Superbike was interesting for the first time with Buell and Ducati mixing it up in the top 5.
One last thing, this was my first AMA event, I've never watched one before live either. You would think with Bike Week going on at the same time, there would have been a nice turn out for the events. Superbike and Sportbike was a Thursday event and I think there were more spectators at the club races the week before, couple hundred at best and even the main event Friday night maybe had 1000 spectators. I think AMA is lucky to get any coverage based on the intrest at that track. Racing is great to watch but Speed has to make money and it doesn't seem like we are that big an audience compared to other sports. I'll keep you posted in two weeks if Road Atlanta is any better.

There's no way I'd go as a spectator to Road Atlanta or Road America or Barber if there wasn't a TV feed. The rules package is fine with me - I agree it's fun to watch 1300cc Buells beat up on 600cc imports. But how much fun is it if you can only see two or three corners all weekend? And then you have to wait a week or a month to see the TV version of the race, if you remember to check it out? No way, man... I wouldn't spend $1 on that experience, and I probably won't watch the delayed TV shows, either.
That sucks because when you are in the pits, you can't see all that much and without the closed circuit coverage. Hopefully they will have it at Atlanta in two weeks.

I'm probably the only person who posts on forums who was corner working and was listening to the marshaling headphones the entire day. WOW, what a travesty! First off, Pegram crashed really hard, they didn't wanna red flag it, so the corner marshall said "we need an ambulance right now" and the DMG rep didn't have enough time to answer, so they red flagged it before he could answer. Then, they re-started the race, without telling the riders it was going to be a condensed race, so instead of 21 laps, it was 18 I believe. WTF?
My favorite part was when people went off track, they'd get black flagged. Then when Yates crashed right in front of me, got back up, remounted and continued riding, they didn't give a shit. So lemme get this straight, I go wide in a corner, loose a few positions then get meat-balled! BAHAHAHAHHAH! ****ing loosers!
It was like being at a poorly run club race. There were people on the grid who were being lapped 3 times by the leaders. I mean thats just ridiculous!
So yea, I payed my dues to the SCCA club and I had a great time! Anybody who hasn't volunteered to be a flagger, needs to do it at least once. I've done it a few times now and have enjoyed every moment of it, even yesterday. At the same time, the DMG sucks balls... With 7 people showing up for the supersport race, It won't be long before nobody shows up.
Do they have plans to adjust restrictions on the Buell after this weekend in Sportbike? Although I guess it should be pointed out that no other big twins were near the front besides Eslick. Even Davies couldn't get in the top 5.
