Back from our break.........how 'bout Daniel Craig as Steve? Not that I've got anything personally against Brad, his combination of Pep Le Pew and Keith Richards as Capt. Jack Sparrow (at least in the 1st. episode) was spot on. Brad plays a mean Hunter Thompson, but Steve?

Daniel craig is an excellent call, he looks a lot like him and hes a good rider so he wouldn't need a stunt guy every other shot

Had dinner with Chad McQueen a few months back during Ledgends of the Motorcycle in Half Moon Bay, my wife mentioned to him (to my embarrasment) that she wanted me to get a large tatoo of Steve rolling up his sleeve to show off a tatoo of ME on his arm, THATS when ya KNOW yer cool, when Steve has YOU tatooed on himself. Chad (when he finished spitting wine thru his nose,) said if I ever do it he'll pay the tab. (a few more bottles and we might of done it then!) I don't know why I was, but I was suprised on how well versed he was on most aspects of bike building, he was very deferential and self effacing, but in speaking at length his understanding shone thru.

Old people don't go to the movies so where is the audience?

I would venture to say that most people under 30 have no idea of who Steve McQueen is....I might be wrong but most of the stars of that generation are pretty much unknown now.

As far as to whether Brad Pitt would be the best candidate to play McQueen, I say......why not?

Wasn't Will Smith, the Fresh Prince of Belair, convincing as Ali?
Wasn't Joacquin Phoenix damned good as Johnny Cash?
Wasn't Jamie Fox purty darned good as Ray Charles?

So why not Brad Pitt? However, the ONE actor who would be the one to play McQueen is Daniel Craig hands down.

BTW, my favorite McQueen movie is The War Lover.....he plays a psychotic loser who is the best B-17 pilot in the Group so they tolerate his being a total a$$hole. He made a very believable anti-social jerk.

my girls 16 year old brother has a huge McQueen poster of him standing outside his green Mustang lighting up a cig, awesome picture.
Thats really my only case that im basing whether or not youngsters know him.
I asked him about the poster and he fully knew about McQueen from his dad always watching his movies when they came up on cable.

might be an odd case, who knows, but i bet he's better known by young people than we think..... if not, thats a shame but hopefully the movie is done well and introduces him to another gen.

Your confusing Johnny Depp with Brad Pitt there.
