I'm not sure what the release date is for north america but I was surprised to see that there are 2 already on ebay uk... but by the sound of it they still have a few things to tweak...
There's a few in So. Cal for sale and have been since August or so, IIRC. I remember seeing one at the KTM dealership in my little podunk town (pop. 15K) outside of San Diego.
Haven't seen them out on the streets or track in any sort of numbers though... Kinda hard time to try and sell a $23K bike - least that was the quote from Pop's at our local shop.
There was a 1000mile RC8 in a local dealer a few months back, TBH I was left cold by the finish the bike looked cheap the plastic was like a childs toy.
I fancy another twin but if I change from my bike it will either be an RSV Mille Factory, 1098 or maybe another RC51 as a long shot, certainly won't be an RC8 or another 999.
dealer about 25 miles from me says he is still waiting for the two he was alotted. he's expecting spring to be the arrival time, but was told early february.
BUT DUE TO BAD BUILD QUALITY ,THESE MODELS HAVE VARIOUS RECALLS PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL KTM DEALER TO SEE IF THEY WOULD CARRY OUT ANY WARRANTEE WORK *******

A dealer near me put theirs on Ebay for all of 3 hours before KTM corporate called and put a stop to it. The salesman told me KTM threatened to pull their bikes from the dealership if they were caught selling a new KTM on Ebay again.
Cool lookin' bike, but the orange on the tank doesn't match the fairings. Maybe it's on purpose, but it just looks sun faded compared to the fairing. For 23K, I wan't my oranges to match!

Sounds a bit harsh no? Is KTM a bit high on themselves when it comes to the percieved effects of selling on an online venue?

ya at the very least..... I think it would def be a blast to ride but unfortunately the bodywork looks really cheap, reminds me far too much of the junky looking Buell Blast plastics
