Thumbs down Fv#*ing COPS!!!

Some of you might remember that my Repsol 1000RR was stolen about a month ago.... so I posted a $1000 reward online for anyone who can find it. I got a call from a guy who took me to the exact location where the bike was (someone's home). Caught the guy on camera painting my bike BLACK and was riding around the neighborhood telling the story about how they stole the bike.

I call the cops to help retrieve (BIGGEST mistake!!!!) The first one shows up 45 minutes later, and in about an hour there were 5 Sherriff cars in the parking lot of a grocery store. The discussions were pretty much like ... why we SHOULDN'T do anything..... how there might be more to this, than just my bike.... how they need to involve other divisions and all... but basically they didn't want to do anything right now... they asked me to leave and I got a call an hour later, saying they were NOT going to do anything right now, and that by Monday/Tuesday they would be ready to move (keep in mind this was Saturday!!!)

Since, I have been calling and getting the run around from all of them.... they haven't done anything... and the worst part is I got another guy call on Sunday telling me he found the bike (same location) only to call back Monday saying it was now gone!!!! The investigator who I finally found talked to me like I was a criminal, asking me to basically **** off, and that if he was "lucky" enough to find it, he will call me, but that I don't need to be calling him!!!!

So the bottomline is the ****heads didn't do shit when they had the chance, and now the bike is lost again!!! I am so frustrated with these guys!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that. I guess not all agencies apply common sense to the situation. Was it at least insured?

Write a letter to the mayor of the town. Go above their heads keep pestering them to do something. If they dont do something tell the cops that you are so outraged that your going to get intouch with the local news channel to show how little help they are even when you've found the bike. Then go and tell the media they love stories like that.

Or just follow the dude who has your bike one day and steal it back. Personally I would of done that in the first place its not like you could get in trouble for stealing your own property.

Yeah, I thought about doing that to start with but found out the guy has a history of being in trouble with the law, including assault with a weapon. I probably would have been shot!!!

Still considering just talking to the guy..... maybe offer up the reward money and we both go our own ways..... I just find it ironic that the local guy on the street is more helpful to you than the cops are!!!

Wait a minute. Dude tried to do the legal thing, the thing 99% of folks would say is the right thing.

Yeah, I understand the impulse. It'd be pretty hard not to go disassemble the guy and take the bike back. It showwed a lot of intelligence and restraint to do the hard thing and call the cops.

That the cops refused to do anything . . . that is on them. I am still fighting to get legal property back that was seized in an illegal warrant. The cops screwwed up, hit a house they shouldn't have and took stuff that wasn't illegal or involved in any crime and won't give the stuff back because then they'd have to admit they made a mistake. . . . I understand. I'd be mad as hell to have my stuff in sight and not get it back due to cops refusing to do the right thing.

That sucks man.

Default Stolen Bike

I hate to say this out loud, but its what I'm thinking.

Want to set up a "Buy". Get a film crew from an indi TV station to film it, and have about 10 well-armed friends within shouting distance. As you drive away, have them call the cops and report it.

Be quick, before its gone.

Can I get any volunteers!!! I would much rather have some backup on bikes, just in case he takes off again.... I KNOW I can't chase him down with my truck!

If I was within three states of you, I'd be there.

Cops are inherently cautious. Why investigate something with any risk. And why write a lengthy report at the end of the shift. Traffic stops are fast, painless and make money.

You did the best you could by calling the media. Tell channel 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 that a republican stole your bike and a republican cop refused service.
Then they will be there double fast with fangs bared.

Have to agree with this.
A similar situation happened to me with my home and I literally watched as the cops let the guy go. I pretty much lost it and found myself in the back of their car being threatened with obstruction, assault...etc.
In situations like these it pays to handle them on your own.

Default Stolen bike

Iceman,

Post on the twtex.com board. We're mostly in TX and I'm sure someone in the Houston area would be glad to help. I'm in Dallas and too far to help you, but would if I was closer. Be sure to ask Scott (Tourmeister) for help.

While you're at it, copy a couple of TV stations, such as 33, 39, etc.
