The really mystifying thing about all of this is, that Stoner does 20 odd laps in practice, at race pace, doing laps almost .5 of a second faster than anyone else, using fewer qualifying tyres than anyone else, looking unbeatable and just slides off twice on lap 6. Is there someone in his team making very suspect tactical decisions? Look at some of the tyre and setup choices earlier in the year!? If I was conspiracy theorist, I'd say that Dorna couldn't accept the financial consequences of a Stoner as champion for a second year. A Reminder, Dorna is in competition with WSBK for viewer or spectator numbers and Rossi in the frame, gives them the publicity edge, for now.

Dorna are also responsible for JFKs assassination and had a hand in Marilyn Monroe and Princess Diana's demise.

Maybe Michelin is sabotaging 'lil Casey's tires like they did back in 2006.
The little dude is cuckoo, just like your theory.

That ^^^^^ is some serious grassy knoll shit if I ever heard it.
Were you drunk when you wrote that... the reason reason I'm askin' is because no high mofo could be that rediculous.
Ago won a lot.... but he was a serious machine whore. Check the bikes he rode and what competition rode, not too amazing that he won as much as he did.

Oh and yeah... Casey's pole positions?
There nice. They give you hope, but they don't mean a damn thing in the end as you can already see, what is he? 75 points down now?
I bet you he'd take a second row starting spot for a finish right about now.

pole positions mean EVERYTHING ! !!!! right up and until the first corner where it means jack squat when your in 7th .
In his defence stoner has been the basically the only guy in the last couple years that turns poles into wins. Not this year obviously
Stoner is already talking about focusing on next year so i would wager hes gonna scale it back and avoid more dnf's or crashes.

Everybody crashes. Think Rossi when Hayden won it. Stoner didn't crash much last year. I figure he's due for some DNF's. Granted, I think Rossi would've come back regardless if Stoner crashed or not. Just pointing out, even the GOAT has struggled with crashes when it counted.

Well, one of Vale's crashes this year was dePuniet's fault remember.

Rossi has been for the most part a "non-crasher".
It would be interesting to see how many times Casey has scuffed his leathers compared to Rossi who has been in the series at least five years longer than Casey.

most people forget how brilliant casey was on the Honda almost every race. He led or fought for top 5 (EDITED ) almost every race...... then he crashed or lost touch with the race...almost every time. Got to the point that his confidence was shot.
The difference when he got to Ducati IMO is that, one.. he grew up and was coached better at Ducati to be patient, and two,, has an awesome package of course. But is it so much better than the Honda the ran up front in the past that it made SUCH a difference? nah...he simply learned to race and not rush. Im not saying he would had won on the satellite Honda... but you get my point.
The fact that hes crashing again is simply him reverting back to desperate ridding trying to catch up in the points and making mistakes, just like he did his rookie year trying to win when he was too new. Todays example? Lorenzo, clearly an amazing rider capable of winning many races and fighting for championship, but he started crashing a lot by making rookie/desperate moves. Yesterdays example? Rossi, look at his rookie 500 year, he crashed a lot.
IMO Casey is either going to "slow down to go faster", as they say, or hes gonna crash more until hes out of contention and then calm down and start winning again.
the difference between Rossi and Lorenzo/Stoner is that Rossi learned the lesson of patience fast and never forgot it, in fact, he became the master of patience and taking it easy in a race, til it was time to not take it easy anymore and win the race, but never getting desperate. To me, that separates Rossi from almost every racers out there. We can go back and look at all his opponents that he has mentally destroyed and you can see how he made them get desperate and inpatient to the point of mistakes.....Biaggi, big crasher under pressure, Sete crumbled crash after crash while leading, etc.
The only guy in recent history to keep his cool against Rossi was Nicky....and i know a lot of you are going to ring in with how He didnt really win blah blah, but the fact is that he won the championship by keeping Rossi out of his head at key moments and keeping his cool, and actually Rossi was the one that lost his cool at the key moment in an uncharacteristic loss of patience in his part.
Casey need to put Rossi out, put the Michelin vs Bridgstone out and put the "Ducati is best therefore you won" out, out of his head... easier said than done, i know I wouldnt be capable of doing it, but thats the deal.

^^^^^ well put.
He is letting his head beat him. Rossi has gotten under his skin. Racing, doesnt matter what it is, racing paper airplanes, whatever is 75% mental. Casey has to get right with it. If he gets his head straight he will win the championship. if! But the sign of a true winner is the guy who keeps it all together, puts his head down and goes to work. Honestly I'd like to thank both those guys for giving us one hell of a show!

I pretty much agreed with drsus' entire post but this specific quote had me curious on how accurate it actually is since we have all the haters to remind us day in/out.

Btw- I never forgot.
Circuit/Stoner/Rossi
SPA- 6th / 14th
QAT- 5th / 1st
TUR- 2nd / 4th
CHN- 5th / DNF
FRA- 4th / DNF
ITA- crash / 1st
CAT- crash / 1st
NED- 4th / 8th
GBR- 4th / 2nd
GER- DNR / 1st
USA- crash / DNF
CZE- 6th / 2nd
MAL- 8th / 1st
AUS- 6th / 3rd
JPN- crash / 2nd
POR- crash / 2nd
VAL- crash /crash-rejoined
So in Stoner's rookie season he's crashed out 6x, DNR 1x, finished in the 'top 5' 6x and between 6-8th for the remainder of completed races, all on pretty much a second rate team. Even with all those DNF's, he finished 8th in the season. Not too shabby if you ask me, who knows where he would had finished the season IF he didnt have all those DNF's.

Is it that much better? You'd have to ask Pedro, he beat up on Casey like a pimp to a Ho earlier in their careers and last year could barely sniff Casey's rear tire. Do you think the talent between the two became a sudden chasm? I think not.
The Honda always had a lack of front end feel... its possible that he has the feeling on the Duc that he was missing on the Honda.
He's crashing at the front with no pressure being applied... Remember, he is the fastest guy out there... so that kinda shoots a hole in your theory, but it was a nice try.
Desperate riding comes into play when the guy leading points is out front and you trail by a position or two... Not the case with Casey whose been out front and pitched it away. The problem is not so much pressure , or desperate riding as it is poor management of position and time gap. I think he was up by 2 seconds by lap 2 or 3.
O man its getting good now... how do you you even think a 500cc 2 stroke is in any way the comparison of Casey on a very tame 990? I mean that comparison is far fetched at best. Not too mention many of Rossi's crashes were in practice. And he finished Second in championship... not eighth.
I see where this thing is. There is NO one else to compare Casey to, so people have to use Rossi. Its not very effective... but its better than the alternative.

WOAH!! I though he was being funny but I think he's serious!
Casey could all of a sudden develop the head of Albert Einstien he AIN'T gonna win the championship no matter how clear he gets his head to be.
