Time for a reality check L; no one wins on the street. The kids are probably just lettign you by as that crazy guy on the relic trying to prove something.

Mercy Dale... what ever lame pace you choose to ride the D16RR... you'll
still go quicker on it than a 1098... take it from me... A Gp inspired machine
gives it up without asking whereas you have to go asking for it on those
pedestrian street bikes you are a custom too...
|
A 1098R is hardly pedestrian and given the torque differential that favours the 1098R I would think the 1098R is more useable on the street or on smaller tighter NA tracks where torque and mid-range are more viable. no matter how sublime a D16RR is I'm sure the 1098R is equal or better for the task for the average rider.
Wasn't this a trackday for sport-tourers?

Kids riding the latest and greatest motors of death have gotten their ears
ripped off by Mr.RC45 and liked it...

I'm sure if you ever get lucky enough to ride an D16RR you'll experience an
emotion rush of excitement like your first motorcycle ride... whereas the
1098 is an emotional dribble like an exercise bike... all in all the task of a
motorcycle is fun for the rider...

When did you ride the 1098R, Larry, to state it's not a fun ride?

I haven't had the opportunity yet... I gather from the magazines that the
1098 is fun as much as a big bore V2 can be but clearly not as much fun as
the short and sassy V4... have you noticed that the majority of test riders
don't rave about the 1098 like they do the D16RR???

For a guy spouting the requirement to ride a RC45 before anyone can dare muster an opinion on it you are completely two-faced again Larry.

There's the rub Larry; opinions do not need to be qualified, yours certainly haven't been.

Negative Dale... It is only when proofs are lacking (as in RC45 seat time) that riders try imposed their opinions...

Life, outside your little world, doesn't work that way Larry. Most of the world operates beyond a single frame of reference. Having a frame of reference, in this case seat time, doesn't lend more credence to an opinion or make it a factual statement. Especially in this case since seat time is not a proof/fact as you continue to allude to; it's an emotive experience and nothing more. Finally we aren't talking RC45, much to your chagrin, we are talking D16RR and 1098R.
In any event I'm sure if it was a M1 Moto GP replica you'd be deriding it because it's a "stinky" I4.

Just as the non riding public don't hold our attention when they comment
on motorcycles nor does a rider's comments hold our attention when they
have 0.0 seat time in a motorcycle they always choose to comment
about... you seem to everything about an RC45 except what it is like to
ride one...

Comparing the two he said;
The D16 has ruined him as he feels no other bike will ever be such a 'package'
He said the 1098R was a much more brutal bike, more power everywhere, in city traffic unusable power, he had to be very concious of feeding the power in, wheelie city!
When he first got the D16, he went out to the track, 150km or thereabouts and one knacked rear tyre!!
he said the D16 is beautiful to ride but no where near as aggressive as the 1098R or as brutal as the 1098R
he was sort of giving the 1098R the thumbs down until he stopped and thought about it. He said in isolation the 1098R was brilliant BUT the D16 was just so awesome in it's handling/stopping etc
He did say he thought the D16 was soft in the amount of power and the way it developed it.....maybe it was deceptive...V4 thing and all.
He liked both heaps for what they are.
In the end he said he was glad he had both but if he just had the 1098R at half the price of the D16 he would be a very happy chappy.

As said earlier Larry, we aren't talking about the RC45. Nice try though.
