Default 996 Track Paint? Ideas? Pictures?

I recently purchased a new set of track bodywork for my 996 and am thinking of doing a play on the 2000 996RS theme but instead of using red, green and white, I'd like to use red, black and white on the front and tail (number plates) with solid sides and a black belly pan.

No graphics or stickers.

Anyway, anyone got any ideas of pics of older 996 race bikes they liked?

I'd like to get away from doing the whole red with white number plates thing; looks good, but boring. Would like something a little different.

This doesn't fall into your mental plan, but I always liked this:

If I did it again, I'd go OD green, no stickers, and make it really look like a P-40 [oil streaks, bullet holes, the works]

I did my 748 in black with white number plates, and gold pinstipes. Did some different graphics in vinil and cleared over everything. Looks like it could have been a factory paint scheme, except they didn't do black till much later. The world is your oyster as far as colors go, do a line drawing of your bike and make a few copies. Color it in with colored pencil or marker, and keep doodling until you are satisfied with the paint scheme. And, if you need someone to execute your ideas, give me a ping, I always take care of bike people...

How about the Red Bull scheme! Also I remember seeing a picture of a Duc with the fish biting off the Japanese flag, and it had the Tricolore on the front fairing. Was the best scheme I had seen... will look online to see if I can find it. Anyone remember this? It was in Cycleworld/Motorcyclist a few years ago. Scale model picture below

Our painter just painted his 998 white.
I'm glad he didn't tell me beforehand because I'd have probably knocked the idea on the head.
Lucky, because it looks terrific.

Well I ended up going red and black; rather basic but I know what I want next time.

Bodywork is Catalyst and paint was done by Chad Jensen of MC PRO Design.

Overall I am very happy, I just wish I had thought of something a little more creative.

I agree.

The paint work is really nice.

I had a very vague idea of what I wanted but couldn't quite put it together so I cop'd out and went boringish.

If there's a next time, I know exactly what I want.
