If you noticed I never commented on the Ducs power... and it was because I hadn't seen the race... but having seen the race today, the Duc had quite a bit more power than the Yammy. He pulled Rossi at least three times going up the front straight... notice that Casey passed at the 2 longest straights at Laguna (the front straight, and the run up the hill to the corkscrew) the commentator spoke on Rossi hopping over to defend the line into turn 1.
Getting there, and passing are 2 very different things. Casey has the speed, no question, but I'm not sure he has the race craft of Rossi. He's fine out front... but I'm not sure he'll fair too well in a fight. Well at least he didn't fair too well in the one at Laguna. Rossi actually schooled him quite well (you know, for being old, washed up, and spoiled) and much slower than Casey.
Funny thing is, not once did I hear a commentator say (about the passes) it was dangerous, bad spirited, or uncalled for. Just that it was good racing. It was good racing indeed.

Good points from another perspective. Thing is if Rossi was as good then(22yo) as he is now, he would be a GOD now. What I see is a teacher and a very fast learner. What will Casey be like when he is Rossi's age? We'll see in 5-6 years, but if he carries on at this pace, no doubt people will be saying Casey is a GOAT and we'll be havin this argument about Casey and some other young kid. Rossi will be announcing the race talking about how he schooled the masses in his days. Time will tell.
FWIW, Rossi is not faster, we know that has to do with the bike(more or less), but he is everybit quicker than Casey, mainly due to his experience(I believe they are egually talented). Laguna Seca is a smaller track that doesn't necessarily require you to be on the most powerful bike in order to win, and Rossi proved that.
