I still feel it's a toss-up between Rossi, Pedrosa and Stoner. Casey's team took a tire gamble on race day (due to the lower temps) in China and it didn't work. He was faster in practice. So long as the fight stays close I'd put Pedrobot third. He only does well if he can check out and not compete head to head with anyone. Stoner and especially Rossi know this and should make it physical with the little guy as much as possible. Really -- they should take a page from Toseland's riding and really fluster him. That's where is diminutive size can be a hindrance.

I tend to agree, though I wouldn't count Lorenzo out (unless he misses race(s) due to his injuries).

I remember when Rossi was on the verge of signing another year with Honda
but then without a lot of drama came a surprise switch to Yamaha...

Rossi looks happy and the bike looks great but he is on record as to which
engine architect he prefers in a 800... and if Rossi goes V4 and then so goes a
lot of support for the old I4... and rightly so... the little God Spawn makes any
bike look great...

I don't think Rossi cares what engine is pushing him across the finish line 1st.
As long as he stays at Yamaha and Yamaha is capable of producing competitive I4 racebikes he'll be there and they will be putting I4 racebikes under him. He's already said he wants to finish his career with Yamaha.
I'd like to see him at Ducati and the other bikes go to V4, especially with their streetbikes.

You lot are so naive....Stoner(Aussie) wins championship last year in a doddle, on a low volume manufactured bike.....BUT, MotoGp is in a ratings/popularity battle with WSBK and Bridgestone want to sell more tyres.......=?
....I can't wait for Monza.

Probably never. Maintenance makes a V4 desmo look like a pushrod shaft-drive Honda.

I like your sense of humor. With Speedzilla as witness, let this bet be official!

Is it just me or are the 800s boring to watch. They fight for the first few laps then get so spread out its boring. But like Jami said its still much better than AMA.
|
Especially on tracks like China. I think the 800s are more suited for a twisty track with one long straight and no traction control.
Rossi again proves he can save his tires in the end. Makes it look like Pedrosa can't. But my fading memory tells me Dani has faded in the end, but so does Hayden and Hopper. Problem is when it becomes a pattern. Is it all about tire conservation? I don't have a problem with that, that is racing skill. Tire brand is another issue.
